I attended Rutgers-Newark which is located in downtown Newark and it was the same deal. I paid for garage parking my first year and then moved into an apartment nearby the next. That's what happens when you go to school in a city. You don't see an NYU parking lot do you? I don't understand the problem......

Do you have any clue how many people park at the LSP light rail and take the train to their waterfront jobs or even the PATH? Or park in Harrison and take the PATH? Or park at Metropark and take NJT in? If these kids can't handle it then they can't handle real life.

How do you figure? For one, how many college kids have cars these days? For two, if they are going to this school, it is most likely that they'll end up renting an apartment in JC. Those commuting from outside will park at the main campus parking lot. Lastly... how many students would really need to park 8 hours at the business school campus? The likelihood is that the kid would have one or two classes at that building in a day, tops, and then they'd leave. Complaining about parking over this is really quite silly.

Hey Yvonne...sounds like we are about to hear a bunch of ignoramous hipster wanna bees saying that parking doesn't matter because students will all be riding their skateboards, scooters and bicycles to class anyway....NOT!

LOL, was thinking the same thing. And in she flew on her easy-to-park-broomstick with post #2. At least she's consistent

If they're going to NJCU, it's not like they're likely teeming with excellent other education options. They'll make do.
The more people have to rely on the light rail like this, the more pressure on NJT to improve service.

it sounds like an awfully cumbersome way to get to campus, drive your car, negotiate parking, catch a bus or take a light rail to get to class.

A monthly pass for NJCU students and faculty will cost $64, which includes parking near the main campus and transportation.
The NJ Transit parking lot is located on Claremont Avenue near the West Side Avenue light rail station. Students can take the light rail from the West Side Avenue station to the Harborside station. Bus service is included in the $64 deal, Wayman-Gordon said. The light rail commute between stations is 30 minutes each way. I don't see what the problem is. Laughing my ass off at Yvonne.

The school will eventually relocate perhaps to another city. Only in JC do people, especially the administration, think cars are obsolete.

Yvonne this one is for you...
Amanda Eisenberg | The Jersey Journal New Jersey City University students attending the new 68,000-square-foot School of Business in Downtown Jersey City may have to shell out big bucks to park near the school in the fall -- or add an extra hour to their daily commute. At a Central Parking garage near the new business school, parking costs $10 per hour, $18 for 10 hours and $22 for 24 hours. A notice on the NJCU website says the garage, across from the Harborside light rail station, will offer special rates to students, but school officials interviewed this week did not have details on the rates. A representative for the company that owns the garage, who is listed as overseeing parking and shuttle services for NJCU, did not return numerous calls for details on the rates. Beyond the garage, parking in area would require students to compete for the scant street parking available. Even then, there is a four-hour limit on most coin-operated meters in the area. Story
