I was looking into this yesterday. Found an atlas in the JC public library with a map. But found a better version on google maps. I just googled downtown jersey city in google maps & all the neighborhoods came up. Printed it at postnet.

Lol I always felt the same way about mentioning where I live. Is it just me or have the JCL hecklers gone soft? Either way, congrats on the new digs!

P.S. Congrats on your closing!!!

Thank you!!!

I have to admit I was a bit hesitant to post exactly where we are purchasing. I've been lurking on this site since we moved to the Heights almost two years ago and I was convinced that if I posted about buying in a neighborhood other than Hamilton Park, Downtown, etc I would face a barrage of responses telling me how many times I can expect to be killed on a given day. I'm really happy that wasn't the case

This is my favorite, unofficial neigborhood map. Couldn't tell you how accurate it is, but it's purdy.

This map is pretty slick, but it has me living in Bergen Lafayette which is not the case.

Dang, it ain't bad but it doesn't show Sparrow Hill or Dogpatch.

Wow that's hilarious, according to that map I am no where near GV Ha! I guess my neighborhood would be called Woodlawn, which I don't like the sound of, I really like the name Greenville.

How about 'Chelsea' and 'Hudson Grove' - I can't tell from this old map if they were even in Jersey City proper, but it would be fun to find out if they are still considered neighborhoods.http://mapmaker.rutgers.edu/HUDSON_COUNTY/Chelsea_HudsonCity.jpg

Your realator lied to you, as they often exaggerated the boundaries of areas to make them seem close to the trains. I recall in the mid-90's when they used to call parts of the Grove St./dtjc area "Exchange Place" to make it more appealing. I live not far from Belmont (I'm actually closer to McGinley Sq.). Belmont is either Bergen or West Side/Lincoln Park area depending on who you ask. JSQ's hood southern border is no farther south than Montgomery, and that's probably too generous since that is the heart of McGinley Sq. at Bergen & Montgomery.

With the exception of state and federally designated historic areas, all other neighborhoods are "unofficial" and up to the opinions from one person to the next! But, there's often consensus that you'll find after not too long.

Disclaimer, I'm not a JC authority, just a map geek.

A lot of these neighborhood boundaries are not really "official", but based on all of the stuff I'm looking at:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marion_Section

www.city-data.com/neighborhood/Marion-Jersey-City-NJ.html

I'd say Corbin between Sip and Stuyvesant is definitely in Marion.

Yes! I like that area, even though most of the housing is next to the cemetery. Good luck!!!

My husband and I are closing on a house in Journal Square very soon. I know there are eleventy billion sub-neighborhoods in the general area of where we are moving but I haven't been able to figure out where exactly we fall.
Does anyone have a link to a comprehensive map that breaks down all of the smaller neighborhoods?
I know I could just say that I live in Journal Square but there seems to be a lot of great neighborhood associations in that area that I would like to become a part of when we move. I just want to know which one we would belong to.
Thanks all!
