If the problem is in Chelsea, there is no way that only the JSQ train should be affected. And there is no reason that a repair should take so long. What they have done is cut the frequency of trains by 50% by canceling the JSQ train. They would finish a lot faster if they stopped both lines. Or, they could cut the number of trains on each line by 50%, but that would inconvenience the riders from Hoboken. As usual, JC is getting screwed. And the travelers on NJ Transit trains terminating in Hoboken are getting preferential treatment. Like they do every day.

Don't forget he is running for nomination from the Republican Party - they have no interest in infrastructure that helps urban areas - especially where such infrastructure needs an infusion of public funds, which would take away from tax-breaks and other giveaways to their suburban and rural base - if not actual hostility to the needs of diverse, urban areas. The failure of PATH would be good incentive for the Republicans to push for dismantling any subsidized mass transit that benefits cities altogether.

I really don't trust this.

I tried doing this on a NJT bus once when the path was down. The driver had no idea what I was talking about. Eventually he let me sit down without paying. It's a bit awkward.
