Why does PATH keep closing one of the two ramps that lead to the platforms? This makes a huge bottleneck and it doesn't seem very safe if they would have to evacuate the station.

Christie is at it again !

The first moving walkway in the US

I wish they would open an entrance to the platform to the west or directly overhead (the platform is under Washington St.) I know it's not far, but it really bugs me to have to cross Washington St to enter the station only to double back west to the platform.

The station entrance is only where it is because of the Erie Terminal used to be there.

According to Wikipedia there was an entrance to/from Marin Blvd at some point. Seems hard to imagine. Does anyone know about this?

Time for some ramp problems at Newport.

Okay, I'm declaring this joke officially dead.

The thing that gets me is why all of a sudden is this a problem? We live in the Northeast US, it rains...why only now is it so dangerous that they have to close off that ramp? Makes no sense. I've lived in Jersey City for 15 years and only in the last 6(?) months have they started doing this..... why?

I read once they used to have moving walkways way back in the day. Maybe someone who lived here a long time ago can confirm.

Anyway, seems like they just need a bunch of those rubber mats. I agree, even on rainy days it can be dangerous, especially in flip flops or heels.

it is too much work for them to keep both ramp dry enuf to be safe to walk on.

PATH is simply stupid to use such slippery tile on the ramps.
