Or "recovering catholics", which is what some of us call ourselves when we are feeling a desire to be disagreeable (or are particularly aggravated with our former faith) LOL

Wow! I'm speechless...

Yvonne, I give you credit for taking part in the video, and trying to bring attention to this situation. IMO, the solution is not lawsuits, as if there was no binding committments on the part of the industries getting the tax breaks, it will be pointless. I agree with the speaker from the African American trade group that new aggreements need identifiable, binding, goals and targets.

That said, I firmly believe we cannot allow ourselves to be placated by a few - even a lot - of these programs, which principally benefit the corporate sector through tax breaks. JC, as well as the rest of the USA, needs to ramp-up it's reinvestment in workers and infrastructure.

The subject is PLA, Project Labor Agreement, not faith or religion.

There are so many kinds of Jews in the US that to call someone "lapsed" or "non-observant"--or even a "Jew"--is irrelevant.

In 1930's $ 40's Europe, it was also irrelevant. They never distinguished among the masses...they treated them all the same.

Jewishness, except for the small percentage of converts, is usually considered a matter of heritage. So one can no more be a "lapsed Jew" than one can be a "lapsed Japanese". "Non-observant" is easy, it's the people of Jewish heritage who don't observe any Jewish rituals. How hard is that to get around?

It would help if the video had some actual facts and figures as to what developments have commenced under the PLA and when they commenced. What contrators were hired, what percentage of workers are residents, minorities, etc.

As for the member of the Hudson County Black Chamber of Commerce, there is a relatively simple solution. Become a signatory to a union contract. Then you are in compliance with the PLA.

The person who created this video, Michael Shurin, is pro-choice, pro-gay marriage, believes in the second amendment, thinks some drugs should be legal and is a lapsed Jew. So I am doing a lousy job trying to convert him. However, we do have one thing in common, PLA. I think the all comments should return to that subject.

Yes, you DID express a desire for other people to live by your faith. Expressing how your faith is great for you is different than prescribing how other people not of your faith should live their lives, and how they should be deprived of rights you enjoy.

You list your family's unremarkable tenure in the USA as somehow validating your intolerance? My people have been murdered and deprived of freedom by the faithful of a variety of religions for 5 millennia, from the worshippers of Ra and Anubis et. al. who enslaved us to the "good Christians" who executed the Holocaust. Yeah, history is great. And if it's taught us anything, it's be wary of people who just want to express their disapproval of you.

Michael Shurin is associated with Hudson County TV, his name is on this video, so give him the credit. Yes, sometimes I type fast and I do not check my spelling or grammar. I don't mind those attacks but I do mind someone attacking my faith, especially when they use a phony name.

Did I asked anyone to follow my faith? I did expressed my view as an American citizens. After all, I have my grandfather, father, brother, brother in-law and other family members who has served this country in wars since World War 1. I don't need your permission to express my views. And I do not apology for being a practicing Catholic and having views in line with my faith. When I see my Catholic faith thrown in my face over PLA, I will question why? I also had my maternal grandmother arrested and thrown in jail to give women the right to vote on more than one occasion.

No one has ever criticised you for practicing your religion, just for trying to impose it on other people. The accusation of intolerance by the intolerant when you oppose them is one of the things that makes my head explode.

Perhaps if you had actually put anything at all in the post beside teh link there would be no confusion. I did not click on it, I saw no reason to. When I get emails like that it means a friend has been hacked.

Is there any information available on JCPAC? Who runs it? What are its sources of funding? Does it have an overseeing board of trustees/directors?

The description on their Facebook is vague and the website has none of the above info.

wow Yvonne, your videography skills are really improving. Too bad this mockumentary is filled with half truths and stinks of your blatant bias against anything Mayor Fulop does.

Do you have any idea how much money the city would throw away if they chose to sue the labor unions or simply revoke the contracts they signed with them years ago because they believe they aren't honoring the spirit of the PLA? Do you have any understanding of how poor of a case the city would have? Then, of course, you and by our lackey Fletcher will say how Mayor Fulop is wasting tax payer money on frivolous lawsuits. Also, you highlight the few unions who backed the Mayor, but of course fail to mention that MOST of the unions backed his opponent.

Also, there are few departments where the City has full control over who is hired. One of them is the police force. I assume you chose to ignore the record number of women and minorities who are entering the latest police academy class?

Your fanatical religious and Tea party views aside, you are really showing a Michael Moore-like ability to bend these issues towards your personal biases. I love it. Cannot wait for you and your merry men/women to waste more money in a few years. You made a few million selling your brownstone, so what's a few hundred thousand down the drain?
