Me too. That's a sizable space in the middle of restaurant row, I'll bet the rent will be too high for a service like the OP's.

I actually like CH Martin - sad to see it leave.

I found the answer to my own question:
http://www.fitbodybootcamp.com/jerseycityfitnessbootcamp/about-us/ Fit Body Boot Camps looks like a franchisable brand, with this new location as an outpost. I might try it out but we'll definitely keep the power rack at home.

I believe there is a new 'available for lease sign' on the CH Martin store on Newark Ave, between Barrow and Grove. (There has been an old for lease sign for upper floors for ages, but I believe this particular sign is new.)
Also, one of the neighboring smaller stores also seem to have their lease running out pretty soon - can't remember if it was Sleep Cheap, or another one. There is a for lease sign on the front. Both those locations are just around the corner from Brick Haus Fitness and a martial arts center though.

We could use a coffee shop up here in the Heights. Granted you have Tommy's & Rizzo's on Central but an authentic sit down coffee spot would be nice.

I've been wondering about that boot camp as well. I saw the banner just a few days ago. Haven't heard anything about them.

Please consider coming to The Heights. We bought right next to Riverview Fiske and lack of easily visible/researchable fitness options was one of the things I complained to my husband about (otherwise, I really like the neighborhood!). We are about to buy our own home gym (Power Rack, Treadmill etc.) because we don't feel any of the gyms in the area are worth it. You might also be able to capture all the people who live on the back end of Hoboken as well.
We haven't had a lot of time to explore yet but IS there another gym in that warehouse Empire Fencing is run in, or is that just Empire Fencing's gym equipment I see? There's a poster for a bootcamp on the outside of the building that I plan to call as soon as we move in.

DT seems pretty crowded with fitness places already. Maybe you should consider Bergen-Lafayette, as there are a ton of places along Pacific St that would make great facilities.
You might even be able to get some help from the city. And, there are no fitness places in B-L or Greenville, so the whole south end of town is really unserved. But if you are relying on DT clients walking to your place, i can understand why you need to be in DT

Checking out some of the church halls might be worth a shot. For example there's a church on Pavonia between Coles and Monmouth that seems to have been shuttered for some time afaik.

Not in downtown either, but Chambord Place in Hoboken might fit your needs. Finding a spot Downtown with those requirements is going to be very difficult, unless you want to re-zone an industrial space.

Are you seeking only in downtown? I know it may not meet your requirements but there is a spot in the Heights that looks big enough and no high ceilings. This spot has been sitting empty for months with nothing seemingly ever being done to it. The heights sorely needs some fitness options, however, as there is virtually none other than a Lucille Roberts and a boxing gym opening up. Both on Central ave. It may not be the ideal location for you at the moment but maybe in the future it could be useful.
http://goo.gl/maps/l5OYj Edit: After doing a really quick search it is supposedly 6,000 sq ft total. Here is the link I found, I don;t know how reliable it is though. http://www.loopnet.com/Listing/182001 ... ntral-Ave-Jersey-City-NJ/

Small Business Seeking New Location

Hi All,
I own a small fitness-related business in downtown Jersey City, and Im seeking some additional space, as we have outgrown our current location. Ideally, I am looking for a stand-alone building with 4000+ usable square footage and high ceilings in the downtown area. After months of searching and no options to speak of, I figured I would try my luck here. All options/ideas welcome. Thanks!
