Jersey City bomb squad blows up 'suspicious' briefcase The Jersey Journal April 21, 2013 The Jersey City Police Department blew up a "suspicious" briefcase that was left unattended on Newark Avenue in Little India this afternoon. The Jersey City Police Department's bomb squad blew up a briefcase this afternoon that was left unattended. The "suspicious package" was reported this afternoon, and Newark Avenue between Kennedy Boulevard and Tonnelle Avenue, the heart of Little India, was cordoned off. The contents of the briefcase appeared to be harmless. The street was reopened to traffic and pedestrians shortly after 6 p.m.

Heights, my take on things is that terrorism has been steadily declining in the US since 9/11. To say we need to be more suspect and vigilant now is an overreaction based on anecdotal evidence. We should probably worry more about gun deaths or lightning strikes (in 2011, 26 people in the US were killed by lightning.)

It's time to be less politicaly correct and more suspect and vigilant. Let's act like everyday is the day after 9-11(remember that day). This can now happen at any place, any time, and from anyone.

Of course one should always be safe and cautious but that doesn't mean.....getting rid of all common sense. I can only imagine how many, many thousands of dollars just went up in smoke because of this.
