Walker has his signs taped up high on the telephone poles right outside his campaign HQ on Palisade Ave.

It seems obvious to me that a vote for Fletcher is a vote that won't help Dan or Candice pull ahead of the other in what may be a close contest.

So I have to put up more. And their's are twice my size.

THIS IS THE MACHINE POLITICS that needs to go away.

I'm an independent and am getting squashed by both sides hundred thousand dollar marketing budgets

Fletch

Webmaster, I think this is a valid response here.

"approved businesses" ??? My guess...when you're not around the store owner/employees remove your poster, so as not to hurt your feelings.

Just got off the lightrail and noticed the big, ugly, brown Healy signs are appearing on property here in GV. :(

Is there a phone number for the campaign Healy headquarters so we can inform them of when they are breaking the law? The signs on poles are one thing, but that stupid van (which I haven't seen as of yet) that consistently violated noise restrictions comes to mind as well. When he ran in 2009, the website had a phone number to call. This time, it looks like you can only email the campaign.

In 2009 Team Healy had campaign signs posted on traffic cones of street projects they were doing so it was free advertising for those people driving by. They were up for about a week while the crews worked along Newark Ave so you really couldn't claim the campaign did not know about them.

I just don't want flyers on my car, especially the glossy ones that stick to the windshield after it rains (worse in the summer months when the wet paper bakes onto the glass and I have to scrape it off).

It's very odd to see that the photo has signs for Cunningham, who says she isn't running. Or at least that she's not responsible for the signs.

Is the JJ trying to get her to change her mind? Weird.

It's funny that the caption says "One of the signs...." when the photo has two fully visible and two more partially visible on the other side of the pole.

What I really hate is when flyers are taped, or worse, stapled to trees. Do that & you've lost my vote.

Does this mean Team Healy will be sending its volunteers out to remove all the signs they wrapped around poles along Kennedy Blvd? They used about a mile of tape on each one.

Funny how Walker signs appeared all along West Side Ave the night before Jerry Walker made his announcement in the neighborhood.

I won't claim the Fulop folks don't do it too, but they're sure not sending sign crews out to litter telephone poles and streets. I haven't seen any of their signs except for the little blue ones in people's windows.

This would be a very welcome change if the campaigns actually do it.

?Jersey City already has a strict policy regarding campaign signs on public property that came directly from Mayor Healy himself, which our campaign strictly adheres to...? Healy said.

What is this, a joke or a bald-faced lie? Healy signs have been going up all over town. And you know they don't come from a few rogue volunteers.

This is part of Healy's blatant disregard for the law. His supporters didn't mistakenly put up a few signs out of over-enthusiasm. Those things are expensive and distributed from the campaign with instructions to plaster them all over the place. That's because they're afraid they won't find many real citizens who will put one of those dirty things on their property. The operation is run right out of Healy's headquarters because they feel they've got the right to break the law.

Jersey City election 2013: All sides agree not to post flyers on poles

By Terrence T. McDonald/The Jersey Journal
on March 05, 2013 at 1:14 PM, updated March 05, 2013 at 1:25 PM

In Jersey City, even when political opponents agree on an issue they can find a way to bicker about it.

Ward E City Councilman Steve Fulop?s mayoral campaign yesterday challenged its opponents in the May 14 city election to pledge not to put campaign signs on telephone poles.

Fulop campaign manager John Thieroff said in a statement from his campaign that ?every telephone poll in our city will be plastered with campaign signs? if the candidates don?t pledge to stop the practice.

?This is a quality of life issue that concerns many residents,? Thieroff said. ?It?s also a budget issue. There?s no reason why taxpayers? dollars should be used to take down these unsightly signs after the election is over.?

The re-election campaign of Mayor Jerramiah Healy, Fulop?s longtime rival, issued a terse statement saying the mayor would of course comply, but not because of Fulop's request. There is already a law on the city?s books banning advertisements on public property, Henne noted.

?Jersey City already has a strict policy regarding campaign signs on public property that came directly from Mayor Healy himself, which our campaign strictly adheres to, and Steve Fulop already knows this,? Healy said.

Henne followed up with a photo of two Fulop campaign signs posted on a telephone pole. The Fulop campaign responded with its own photo, of what look like Healy campaign signs crumpled up on a sidewalk.

"We have instructed our volunteers not to do hang poll signs, and while they don't always listen 100 percent of the time, we do remove our own signs if we happen to see them up," said Fulop spokesman Bruno Tedeschi.

The campaign of Jerry Walker, the former local basketball star who also plans to run in May?s mayoral race, called Fulop?s challenge ?irrelevant.?

?Like all candidates running for municipal office this Spring, the Walker Team will obey all applicable rules governing signs on public property,? said Walker campaign spokesman Michael Benjamin, adding he hopes Fulop and Healy "honor ethics laws pertaining to ?pay-to-play? and the use of government resources for electioneering purposes.?

Healy, Fulop and Walker will face off on May 14, when the mayoralty and all nine council seats are up for grabs.
