Glad she lived, as I found it slightly humorous that this happened on Groundhog's Day.......

Jumping in front of a subway or train is definitely one of the more inconsiderate ways to kill yourself.
It's not fair to the conductor to make them your killer, it's not fair to the bystanders, and it's certainly not fair to the janitors. People should kill themselves in the privacy of their own homes, it's only polite.

That happened almost 20 years ago at the Newport / Pavonia station. The woman jumped just as I made it down to the platform (I didn't see her go). The train stopped about 1/3 into the station. The engineer had an absolute look of shock his face.
It was a rather ogrish scene.. the police were checking between cars to see where her body was. She was ripped into multiple pieces (she was spread out under two cars). I can't imagine having to be one of the rescue crew having to clean up that mess....

I agree jmiz - was thinking the same thing. I have seen coverage from the air of an underground event where you get a glimspe of the stretcher being cariied out. how much fuel must have gotten burned for that shot. anyway the presence of the chopper might have been unrelated - other than in timing.
@emileigh I recieved no less than 7 path alerts and 2 from NYC.

That's just one more thing she's bad at.
On a serious note, why helicopters on a Grove St. PATH story? "And we're live, on scene, where below ground, in a place you'll just have to imagine because we're up in the air instead of down on the street ..."

a simple rule of thumb is that when you hear the helicopters hovering, it's kinda like seeing the flags at half mast at the local post office...

A woman was hit by a train at Grove but apparently she was not seriously injured.

about 6:30 am I got an initial email blast that all indicated all PATH service thru JC was suspended due to a "police action." soon afterward I got a blast that said service on the JSQ-33 line "is operating with a 20 min delay. Trains will not stop at the Grove street station." I can hear 'copters overhead from hamilton park. anyone know what's up?
