Drop Off Your Girlfriend and Leave Night (8pm-Close)
Guys, Do you need a night off from your significant other? Drop your girlfriend off at Iron Monkey, (inform the bartender) and pick up a free Guinness Glass. Your girlfriend will receive 50% off House Wines and Martinis. Boyfriend needs to notify the bartender who his Girlfriend is before he bolts!

So shady.

I'm a little late to the conversation here, but couldn't a male and female use this to their advantage? A guy could just go there with a female friend, or even his cousin or sister (nobody has to know that), then just say she is his girlfriend, collect his free Guinness Glass and leave while the woman who's not his girlfriend gets 50% off her drinks! Win - Win!

Some may regard this as a sleazy or shady promotion, I say you could easily use it to your benefit!

He's a shrewdy allright. I bet to his "benefit" he puts other stuff besides gloves in the glove compartment of his car.

I did ask the bartenders (a guy and a girl) "what happened to the music at this place?", and they both kind of shrugged and said something along the lines of "I know, the music sucks".

Depending on who the bar keep is this can determine what music is to be played. I doubt it was the patrons sitting at the bar. Usually each venue will play music similar to the type of crowd and also the type of fare being served according to the atmosphere as well. I would have opened my mouth instead of taking it. Basic Coffee sometimes plays their music loud and the tempo abrupt on early weekend mornings but just a polite request will quell the noise to a more accepting tone. Also chain restaurants have a set play which is not to be altered upon any request. Reasons could be customer taste, culture, and age, along with atmosphere, or time of day. Even nothing such as silence is an option.

I was confused. Everything about the Iron Monkey seems to be the opposite of Z100. It just didn't make any sense.

Hopefully it was just something like, "a manager wasn't around so the bartenders put on whatever music they felt like" kind of thing.

Don't even joke like that. I was there on Sat too earlier in the day. I had a winter brew which I liked but can't remember the name.

I was at the Iron Monkey on Saturday night for drinks. It's a great bar with a rock solid beer selection. The only thing that I noticed that was different was that the music skewed more towards R&B/hip hop/Z100-ish than I remember from the past. Hopefully they are not trying to go Hoboken on us.

Many thanks are in order! I stopped by and my friend and I managed to get the last two plates of food that they had. They were so embarrassed to tell the people who came later. All in all, a great atmosphere. I'm grateful to all the volunteers.

The volunteers who came out on Thursday were a great group. I had a blast and thank the owners for going the extra mile for the people of this city.

Many thanks indeed.

This is one of my favorite spots in Jersey City as I am a lover of craft beer. I wish I would have known they were doing this. I just got back from Rattle N Hum in midtown who was also serving Thanksgiving dinner along with their craft beer offerings.

The Iron Monkey Bar & Restaurant is hosting its 15th Annual Thanksgiving Dinner. This downtown favorite, located at 99 Greene Street, will be opening its doors to the local community inviting all residents for a complimentary turkey dinner.

?The kitchen staff is happy to donate their time back to the people who keep our restaurant running,? says Iron Monkey?s Executive Chef, ?we know the holidays can be a difficult time for some, but we?re here to serve.?

With generous turkey and food donations from local supermarkets, the kitchen will be serving a full course Thanksgiving meal from 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM on Thursday, November 25th.

On Thanksgiving eve, NJ Beer Company will be hosting a Meet The Brewer Fundraiser at Iron Monkey (7pm ? closing) to raise money for the Thanksgiving event the following day. $1 of each NJ Beer Co. beer purchased will be matched and donated back to feeding hundreds of residents this year. Everyone?s support, and thirst, is encouraged to help fundraise.

?We are excited to be teaming up with NJ Beer Company to celebrate our 15th consecutive year sharing Thanksgiving dinner with the local community,? says owner, Steve McIntyre, ?we encourage all residents who may be under financial pressure, or alone for the holidays to join our family atmosphere, and enjoy a traditional home cooked meal.?

Please join us!! Anyone is welcome.

Hey everyone! On Thursday February 11th "Mercy" is filming at the Monkey. We'll be closing the first floor main bar at 7pm. However, we will be open upstairs for dinner and drinks. Just use the York Street side entrance. Someone will be there to whisk you up to the dining room. Do not be deterred by the cameras and trailers we WILL be open for business. Thanks!

One of these days I'm definitely going to bring my guitar on Monday for the blues jam. Must it be electric, or can I bring my acoustic and plug that in?
