Yes I was surprised to see this store open again last night. I was amazed at the selection of items available and that it will be open 24 hours! It really is a complete grocery store. I certainly hope that it does well - it looks like they put a lot of effort into the remodel ( I noticed that it is larger - they also absorbed the nail place that was on the side) so this market is larger than the first. I wish them the best of luck even though A&P and ShopRite are within walking distance.

The previous store was not very appealing. The new one is clean, well-stocked and open 24/7. They carry Indian foods to appeal to the local customers (wise), but it is not fair to call it an Indian market. They have a wide variety of goods.
I wish them well, but I wonder how they can survive with two Supermarkets and several mini-markets so close by. Perhaps the tenants in the two Lefrak buildings on 10th are enough.

Imo it's an improvement in that the selection of dry and fresh groceries is superior to the previous store and it's open 24 hours. I like having a place nearby that carries some basic groceries at all hours without the crazy lines and unfriendly cashiers (I'm lookin' at you, Shoprite).
I will be shopping here. It was clean, convenient, the proprietors were friendly, the prices were reasonable (for a quickstop/bodega type place), and they had what I needed when I needed it. I see no reason to complain.

So essentially it's the same store? This is what I don't understand about Jersey City. A "gourmet/specialty" store was there and failed. So what opens up there? Essentially the same thing? I wouldn't be surprised to see a pho place open up where Rue Viet was.

I'm interested, too, if anyone has info/insight on this one. The idea of something even remotely like the grocers in Jackson Heights is very exciting!

Not sure now -- but in its old form they sold a lot of frozen Indian food -- and sold a lot of hot steam table Indian food -- as well as everything else.

That is too bad -- they should have really expanded the hot food.

I stopped in last night to pick up some parmesan (yup, they have parmesan) and was very impressed by the selection. The place has been redone, I think by new owners. They've still got the Indian dry goods and basics like laundry detergent, toilet paper, and cereal, but now they've got lots of other stuff too. Basic cheeses, almond milk, San Marzano tomatoes, capers, fresh fruits and veggies (including some exotic looking things that I wasn't familiar with), and dried fruit were some of the things that caught my eye.
They don't have the hot food selection they used to but they've got basic groceries and they're open 24 hours according to the deli menu I picked up. Also, they did a nice job with the renovation.
