Are these the cameras in question? I just noticed them on the intersections running down 6th street. This one is on 6th and Erie.

Based on the experience in other states and countries: we should demand full disclosure from our local government on both the placement and purpose of any traffic/surveillance cameras. They owe us that.

Red light cameras are normally mounted on its own pole, equipped with flash for night-detection. Motion detection cameras are normally mounted on the traffic pole. These might be motion detection cameras. They are at the end of a long pole which is strapped to the traffic pole.

JCPD was out at 6:30 am for 3 days in a row on Jersey Ave about 2 weeks ago ticketing all the cars that were parked too close to the intersection. I'd be happy about this if they didn't skip the cars with police shields in their windshields.

I noticed yesterday downtown what appeared to be several traffic stops and ticketing of illegally parked cars by JCPD. I hope this is the beginning of a new attitude.

Are we talking RED LIGHT cameras or motion cameras that detect if cars are in the turn lanes?

As long as it doesn't end up like what happened in this article. Frankly, I have little faith this isnt the overall plan.

Great, maybe now these idiots will slow the F down or at least get tickets for blowing lights.
With all the out of towners cutting through our city, we should be ticketing the hell out of them for speeding, running red lights and stop signs. We are in the middle of a budget crisis, ticketing out of towners is a great way of raising revenue as well as making our streets safer.
