Seperate toll to enter JC if you're not local - help pay for roads and infrustructure

The only business you get from traffic into NYC is what you already see on 1/9, 12th st and 14th....Gas stations, fast food, hookers and no-tell motels.

The pollution, congestion, noise and danger from the Holland Tunnel traffic overflowing onto our streets is a serious problem.

We need major enforcement and blockades to keep the tunnel traffic out of our local streets.

Yeah I've never seen a choke point at the other points of entry to NYC. Why not try to get some business from these out of towners.

Or make the police block off the exits during rush hour and weekend backup and only allow local traffic through.

Put up a sign at the exit saying "EXIT CLOSED. Local Traffic Only." and station it with a cruiser with flashing lights. (even an empty cruiser would help)

Other communities do this near choke points in traffic, especially along border crossings with Canada.

Also, they should aggressively ticket cars for blocking the box. We'd have much less congestion if cross-traffic could flow better.

Aggressive policing of the traffic would solve the problem without new payment schemes.

sounds good to me. Every Saturday and Sunday I listen to the honking and watch the backups on Monmouth of the cars and coach buses. These are the people who get off at 14B.

I would imagine that prior to the onset of GPS, they wouldn't have ventured into JC but now that we're in the time of "never lost" technology, no one is afraid to blaze a new trail to avoid traffic

Anyone that uses EZ pass to take an JC exit, then within 1 hour takes the Lincoln or Holland Tunnel should be hit with a $5 or so JC "rat-run" fee. I'm pretty sure a lot of people avoid the end of the Turnpike when it's backed-up, take the Columbus or Liberty exits, go through downtown, then hook back up on Marin, Erie or Monmouth to get to NYC. I don't have a problem with that, but let's make them pay to Jersey City.

Perhaps, if they don't have a NJ license plate, nor EZ-pass and go through the JC cash exits, they should also pay the additional $5 or so.

Mebbie needs a lil thought....perhaps the $5 is only charged during morning/evening rush hours.
