Jersey City man shot twice in leg while he urinates in public
by Charles Hack/The Jersey Journal Sunday February 22, 2009, 4:24 PM A Jersey City man who was shot twice in the leg this morning, told cops he became a target while urinating on a dead-end street, police reports said. Police were called to Jersey City Medical Center at around 9 a.m. on the report of a shooting victim, police said. The 28-year-old Woodward Avenue resident said he woke up feeling hungry and decided to drive to Communipaw Avenue to get some breakfast, reports said. On the way he felt the urge to urinate and drove to the end of a dead-end of Van Horne Street near Bramhall Avenue. He told investigators that after getting out of the car to relieve himself, he felt a "hard object" against his right thigh, which he instinctively pushed away and turned out to be a gun, reports said. He then heard a two or three shots and saw the shooter running away, reports said. The victim drove himself to the hospital where he was treated for a gunshot wound from small caliber weapon to the front left leg just above the ankle and rear right calf, reports said. However, the victim stopped cooperating with the police during the interview, reports said.
