Live cams for nannies in the park. You must be kidding. If you have ever been to a city/neighborhood meeting this place is broke.

I suggest a better nanny service and screening.

Certain daycare centers advertise "Live Cams" where parents can log onto a web site and watch the daycare live. Perhaps a parent's group should petition the city to put cameras up in public playgrounds.

Cel's should be the least of a parent's worries. Ever noticed the city employee with the leaf blower kicking up clouds of dust containing every disease known to man in powdered form including dog crap, bird droppings etc. for several hours twice a week while the nannies and kids are sucking it in from a few feet away at the playground. Ignorance is bliss.

LOL -- we're about ten years too late to this trend. It's a common theme in any nannyfied area. See any/all mommy blogs in any major city. And/or see The Nanny Diaries.

I think it's one of those things that parents are just resigned to. Not saying that's good, just saying that the cost and emotions around child care are so high that compromises are probably made along the way.

If you think a kid is in danger, I would assume you would intervene. Otherwise, if they are just yapping on their phone or with each other and the kid's life isn't in jeapordy, it might be worth just ignoring it.

Unless you want to go on a whole brigade that takes down yappy mommies and daddies along with yappy nannies...and then we would have to go after the yappy dog owners and yappy dog walkers, because first it's the kids, then it's the dogs...and then we realize life is short and some battles must be left unfought...oy...this is hurting my head...yap yap yap.

I've seen this happen plenty of times and wondered the same thing myself. (This has nothing to do with how many cigarettes the kids' parents puff away at work by the way. I'm sure they put in plenty of extra time to make up for those breaks) I've sat next to nannies in Hamilton Park and heard one of them describing their recent lay - I kid you not. On another occasion I've seen one of the nannies talk away on the phone while the kid in the stroller was crying. As with anything, you get what you pay for I guess. Perhaps the nannies make the same salary as they would at C-town or KFC - and in that case they can chat away.

As long as they aren't peeing on the playground equipment, I think it is ok.

No need at all. A nanny can be fired. Kids are stuck with lousy parents, unless they really get wild.

I am sure there is no need to explain the difference between a parent not paying attention versus someone who is paid to pay attention.

And the cigarette puffers don't have a human being they are responsible for.

Am I the only one that notices that gaggle of nannies out in Van Vorst Park everyday?

All they seem to do is talk about their bosses and chat on their cell phones.

With the money they are making, I am sure the parents of these children would be interested to know they were paying for someone to sit on their bum and leave their child unsupervised in a public playground.

While you are at it count the number of time stealer\'s outside the large office towers puffing the work time away on cigarettes. At least you can notify their bosses on the premises and tell them to? get back to work?!

I live near Hamilton Park. I am not a parent but I am home sometimes during the week and the nannies I see around HP are awesome. They watch the kids closely and they are always even-tempered and kind. They even like dogs!
