I must say that when the topic of Grove Street Plaza came up I emailed Mr Fulop. I got a great response within a day. That being said my partner and I moved here in October. We went to the local district place on Grove/Manlia and 3rd street. Simple as pie.

What is the easiest way to register to vote in JC? The last time I voted was before moving to JC so I'm still registered in another town.

Great sentiment but Ward E has the most registered voters in the whole city.24,000 some odd voters to be exact, but we do not have is proper turn out.
Count me in for help though.

You are correct. Let?s start with those with vested interest in moving the city forward and later about everyone else. Organization beats money all the time DTG

The non voters run the gamete (sp) here. I recall on this site when it was close to election time and there were posters who stated that they never registered to vote here. A few of the posters, were active members of this site and also had many post complaining about the problems that plaque the city?.I was in total shock that some of them were ranting for close to two years and never registered to vote to make a difference. I really don?t think the problem is just with the ?transient? dwellers, if you look at the registered voter list and their voting activity many are owners as well as renters. I just don?t get it.

This sounds great. Convincing homeowners with flooded basements to vote should be a snap. But how does one convince a childless renter in a tower that JC's government matters to them? I can't come up with a compelling argument.
There's that apocryphal story about polling commuters at the path and when asked who was mayor of their city, a significant portion of them said "Guiliani". How do you get traction on the "bedroomers"?

Here is some information I wanted to pass along:
The Historic Paulus Hook Association, in conjunction with the Downtown Coalition of Neighborhood Associations is launching a voter registration initiative called JCVote.org. This initiative is being launched because Ward E has among the fewest registered voters of all districts in the city. Why does this matter? Politicians are able to look at voting trends broken down as low as a block by block level. Logically, they, in turn, focus their resources and energies in those areas that vote. Voters are who keep them in office and thusly they are the ones who need to be kept the happiest. Essentially we should count on the fact that our elected officials won?t listen to us as closely if we fail to vote. And since our voting numbers are low, we shouldn't be surprised that our priorities are not necessarily the City Council or the Mayor's priorities. JCVote.org was created to change that trend. If you wish to participate in voter registration, check out www.jcvote.org/volunteer.

Why should local politicians listen to us if we don't vote? Ward E has among the fewest registered voters of all Jersey City districts. No wonder we have few parks, high property taxes, and sewer system problems.
JCVote.org is trying to change all that. But we need your help to make our local politicians listen. Help us get registered voters - volunteer at JCVote.org/volunteer today.
