These are the MAE guys who skulked out of Lafayette last year literally in the middle of the night. They left our neighborhood high and dry. Bad feelings persist. I won't be going.

How did they leave the neighborhood high and dry?

Saying they left the neighborhood high and dry pushing it. There were conflicts between the owners and between the owners and the landlord. They go into gory details in this article: http://www.jerseycityindependent.com/ ... t-after-partners-dispute/

I loved MAE and will check out UR.

Those prices are pretty steep for Ramen.

Mitsuwa has ramen in the single digits.

The menu sees to have pretty good fare. Opening kind of late though on weekend mornings.

Definitely excited to try this place. It looks like they have their menu up now. The ramen, while it certainly doesn't look traditional, does look like the highlight of the menu. Looks like they're also doing their take on the ramen burger which, if you believe the "cool" media outlets, was this summer's culinary touchstone. (Only somewhat exaggerating).

I'm hoping this place does well as it will prove to other businesses that it's "safe" to move further west down Newark.

Has anyone been to Union Republic yet? I would like to hear some reviews.

It was a soft opening last night -- they had a large trained staff. I don't think it will really open till this weekend -- it was too crowded to get a table last night fast -- so we will be back soon -- they are open for Breakfast, Brunch, Lunch & Dinner!
