What's happening with the parking lot on the south side of First between Manila and Erie? It's a giant pit with a JCRA sign, but there's nothing on their site about it.

I also saw that sign on the Grove Plaza storefront now only says Grove Plaza Bistro, the Wine Bar, and Grove Plaza Pizza.."The Whiskey Bar" and "The Speakeasy" are now omitted.

The best information I received is that the new building will encompass the old hardware store space and the limousine building, but NOT the laundromat building.

It's going to be pretty loud there if they're going to go up 7 stories. Lots of early wake up calls for the neighborhood.

I heard from a fairly reliable source that this is going to be a BIG project. They are looking to go 5 or 6 stories high and possibly aquire the car service and laundry mat on Christopher Columbus to have one large complex.

Nothing remains. I was also a fan of the native American head. Maybe somehow it will be incorporated into the new facade, although I would think that to be unlikely.

Heard it was going to be apartments or condos, no idea about retail though. The construction crew told me it was going to be higher than the building was before so would block views of the nearby buildings. I also heard it was going to be an L shaped, looks like theres that opening that may have once been a loading dock. Not 100% sure of any of this though, just from word of mouth.

I"m talking about the old hardware store on Jersey.... yes it's getting knocked down. I checked it out from the roof, theres nothing left in the back except a little wall and a huge pile of bricks.

Looks like it'll be awhile since they're tearing the entire thing down. The construction workers said it'll be a tall building - so no more view for anyone behind that.

So what's happening with the rehab & expansion of the big mansion/former funeral home on Jersey Ave. at 4th st.? Looks nice. Anyone know who's developing it and if it will be condos, rentals, etc.?

Little thread bump here...
BrightGirl, I believe a Liberty Harbor North tower will be built behind the Jersey Ave light rail station. Anybody been to "Golden Grill" yet on Newark Ave? I saw that it was open last week. Confirmation on type of food? I saw that the facade was installed on the whiskey bar/wine bar/pizzeria/speakeasy at Grove Plaza. I have heard that the owner is the same individual who owns Powerhouse Lounge (certainly not the most encouraging news). Anybody have the scoop on this place, when it will open, etc? Regarding the bar in the old Hudson Camera spot ... has work basically ceased there? Many/most days I see crews there, but I haven't seen any progress in many months, from my periodic peeks in there. I wonder if Monty posts on this site, and can give an update on what the plans are for the space?
