Re: Plumber?

My water heater broke this weekend, I rent out my condo in JC and live in NYC. After wasting an entire day waiting for PSEG, I called Byron at Hutch Mechanical. He came the day I called to check it out and worked around my schedule. He replaced the following day and even came into the city to pick up the check to save me another trip back to JC. I was very impressed with his work ethic and professionalism, after such a poor experience with PSEG.

I served Petit Jury Duty in June on a Tuesday, I had a trip planned to Colorado that Saturday. I brought the plane ticket as proof, however I didn't need it. When I got called into a court room for jury selection they state how long they expect the case to be and if anyone is unable to fulfill that. You raise your hand, approach the judge and let them know. They told me to have a great trip and I was excused.... I'd still bring documentation as back up, but it wasn't a problem for me at all.

Good luck!

I had luck using grated cheese, peanut butter never worked. I got quite a few the last few winters! Good luck!

I'm having my condo painted today and tomorrow by John Taglieri @ 201-628-1822. He's painted 2 of my neighbors places, great job and great rate. I can let you know how it turns out after he's completed.

Seems like Maritime sounds like a winner!

I don't know a place next to Maritime that's Asian Fusion? I only know of Liberty House.

Thanks all, yes parking is an issue. 99% of the guests will not be walking there....

Appreciate it :)

Baby Shower Venues?

Hi! I'm helping my friend plan her baby shower and I'm at a loss of ideas of where to have it. Her ideas are Maritime and Chart House so far. It will be between 35-45 guests, but she only wants to guarantee 35. She'd like to have a nice room, a nice view would be great, but a large enough space where there is room for all guests and a gift table etc.

I'm hoping some of you have some advice on where to look, I want to make sure this is an amazing day for her!

Thanks :)

Where is there a hardware store? It was mentioned in a previous post, I would love to know which store that is.

These are all great! I really love the pics of the parks and brownstones etc, the real Jersey City I live in (I live on Hamilton Park). I'm loving all these pictures people are sharing. There are some very talented photographers here. Thanks all :) I'm going to miss JC!

I live in a small building (8 units) and we use Madison Property Management. Jane is fantastic. We've gone through several other management companies, and had some very poor experiences. It's been a great experience working with Jane. If anyone has specific questions/recommendation, send me a private message and I'll be happy to elaborate.

I'm sadly moving out of the area, after living here 8 years. I would love to find a print or photograph of JC to put in my new home. I google searched and checked Etsy, but not much luck. Does anyone know where something like this can be purchased?

Thank you for everyone offering advice.

The video is completely black, you do not see anything. I will have to pay regardless of guilt, taking off a day of work for an $85 fine doesn't make sense for me.. My question was posted bc I do not believe there is a sign posted. It was not for me to find a way to not "man up" and get out of a ticket. Can't post anything on this site without someone trying to tear you down. Geez.

Again, thanks to the helpful neighborly responses. :) I will not be turning right on red tonight when I come back from Hoboken!

Seriously? Did you go to court and have them pull out video? I don't want to waste a day off from work if that's the case. I honestly can't remember if I came to a complete stop, but I wouldn't be surprised if I didn't. It was late at night, no one was there.

Traffic violations for turning right on red?

I received a ticket in the mail from a traffic light camera on 18th and Jersey for turning right on red. As far as I know, there is no sign there. Has anyone else received violations like this? It's for $85, I know I've done that more than once this summer so I'm waiting for more tickets to come in. I called the dispatcher and he said he doesn't believe there's a sign and I should go to court to fight.... which would mean taking off work.

I purchased a warranty from PC Richards for my oven (Kitchen Aid) and I did need to use it. I got an appointment quickly and the repairman was really nice. Was worth it to me since things tend to happen with appliances that are used so often.

Hope this helps!

I went Friday and split 4 or 5 small plates and guac. All were delicious. The drinks were great too. We did not try any of the entrees yet but plan on going back there and I would recommend it to anyone. I thought the menu had a creative twist, which I really appreciate. Not just a chicken or beef taco kind of place. Excited to have this in the neighborhood!

My boyfriend had it for a few months and had to get rid of it. The service was horrible, even though they claim it's on Sprint network, and the customer service was really poor. He ended up going back to Sprint and losing out on the $ he paid for his phone. You def get what you pay for...

I have for my car but didn't really like the options for condo. They do not offer any low deductibles in Jersey City due to floor zones. Also, they were no cheaper than my current policy.

Yes, after all these years somebody finally got me but like I said "wait till summer".

You must live in a very glamourous neighborhood to think Hamilton Park is a loud, busy neighborhood overrun with crime.

Obviously some of the people posting on this string aren't familiar with the neighborhood. It's safe and it's quiet. I've been hear 8 yrs now and never had an issue. Of course there will be the occasional petty crime, but we do live in a city - and honestly, phones get stolen in the nicest of neighborhoods as well. When you choose to live in a urban area you know you need to be aware of your surroundings, but acting like Hamilton Park is some crime ridden ghetto is untrue. It's a great place to live.

Not for nothing, that phone story is bizarre to me. I was home with the flu all week, and I live right at the bball court. I didn't hear a thing nor see a cop car, and my window overlooks it. I think there's a big more to that story. But that's just my opinion.
