I like Ahris (Beef Bulgogi!) and based on the discussion hereI'd like to check out Rumi soon. I'm a regular at Gypsy Grill when it's warm out and I'm walking around. Also, up the hill I like Gusto Latino, a little divey but the food is consistent for a quick bite or to take home.

Ha! Well, just looking out for your interests; I thought this upcoming dinner was a date. If it was, I hope it went well. Rumi's food is very good, and from your other post it seems like you agree. And, yes, a bike in JC can be a great mode of transportation. Perhaps the best at times.

Haha, don't drag my name into this any more than it has to. -) My bike gets me anywhere in JC and beyond. Not to mention my notorious restaurant existed a few blocks from the park.

That was pretty funny. Ahri's is indeed very good. I have had a few things there and the spiciness level can be pretty high (a plus on my book, but a warning for those whose stomach may not be able to handle that) and the entire crew was friendly. The food comes out piping hot, which is another plus on my book. The only knock against it is that for someone like anonymess, its location is not convenient if you are using public transportation.

Check out Ahri's near Hamilton Park. Tasty Korean food, seems pretty healthy. BYOB with a liquor store across the street.
edit: Ha! Now that I think about it, it's artisanal Korean food. Referencing another post on jclist.

For a similar menu to Rumi, check out Gypsy Grill:

M&P's Kale salad is a very healthful choice. The lobster salad is as well.

Another vote for Rumi! Another plus: it is BYOB. The ambiance is a bit drab, but the food is great.

Yes, Rumi is very good. I usually get a kabob dinner and split some spreads with whomever I dine there.

Have you tried Turkish food? I like the grilled bronzini or salmon. It comes with a salad.

That's almost every restaurant in downtown JC, except for fast-food, pizza, Talde and the 2 burger places. They're all pretty much "simple" restaurants with a few healthy options.

One of my favorite spots is Sawadee on Newark. They have great food and some healthy options. Teppan Bar and Grill on Warren behind 50 Columbus is also one of my go too spots.

Roman Nose for Italian. Kraverie for Korean-fusion. Any of the Thai places.

Once again, I am imposing on you for dinner suggestions. I'm looking for a simple restaurant with at least some healthy options. Something a bit above a diner if you will. I was thinking Marco & Pepe or Madame Claude or something along those lines, though I don't think either has any or many healthy options. Downtown or Bergen-Lafayette are preferable. Thanks.
