Finally, they said next time you call ask to speak to the desk Sargent. So I did - he will not call you back, make them transfer you to him if you have to call - and 20 minutes later, problem solved! :)

I'm glad the problem is solved but next time call the Captain. Also contact the new Community Police Response Team in your section.

The space next to the former Gallery 58 is so loud I need to turn on the TV to drown them out. The door is even closed and I can still hear that horrible music. Noise Pollution :(

You called 911? I thought 911 is staffed by Hudson County Sheriff?

Did you mean to say you called the non 911 number?

To call 911 for a noise complaint is wrong.

you set the place on fire and called 911 didn't you?

Ha! I was ready to! Actually, I went down to the precinct and after a ten minute round of:

police:"Call 911"

me:"I have called 911 for months, it doesn't help"

Finally, they said next time you call ask to speak to the desk Sargent. So I did - he will not call you back, make them transfer you to him if you have to call - and 20 minutes later, problem solved! :)

Its possible that in this rare case the floors are just not thick enough or something. Maybe to eliminate SOME noise you can have the landlord require felt pads under furniture/chairs and such. I know...that wont help too much but its a start.

My girlfriend and I are in disagreement about her noisy upstairs neighbors.

First off: We agree that they suck.

But I think their level of noise is the unfortunate reality of living below people.

They're not stereo blasters... They're slammers, crashers, furniture draggers, box droppers. It goes on all day (she works sometimes from home), and it often wakes her up at 1 or 2 a.m. (through pro-grade ear plugs).

She's been there for a couple years. She's spoken to them multiple times, and left them nice (I saw them) notes. About six months ago she went to the landlord. No change. These people aren't hostile, but they seem simply not to care.

I think my gf should consider moving if she can't deal with it, because they're not blasting a stereo or TV or having loud parties. That said, I hear it when I'm there, and it's pretty crazy.

Thoughts? I worry if she keeps bitching to the landlord, it will come back to bite her at lease-renewal time.

The Hookah cafe on Blvd- not JSQ, the one before Mosquito park.

That place was making mad noise last night. Before it became a Hookah lounge, it was a travel agency. Not sure how zoning plays into this, but seeing as the city gave permission I don't think it matters.

I don't think there is a block association.

Nope, I guess there are two of them!

If it were really "disco" I might not mind LOL

I am not even sure the cops come, it seems like they might because the music goes off and on but if they do, then the people making the noise do not take the cops seriously that's for sure.

I just don't see why it has gone on this long and a cop told me last week that the restaurant had not been ticketed - months of calling and no tickets - why is that? Why are they allowed to operate in this neighborhood?

Cafe on Kennedy Blvd? If it is the Cops went there last night. That place has been an annoyance. I was told they aren't allowed smoking inside, but they continue to do so.
