Went to the Newport Pool today to pick up a schedule and find out about swim lessons for my son. The front desk guy was talking loudly on a personal call so too "busy" to help me. The woman working in the membership office was reading a novel and told me I should direct my questions to the front desk guy.

Great!

Took my daughter there last year, followed by a visit to the doctor for pink eye the next day. I'd opt for the beach if you don't mind the drive.

If you mean the indoor pool at Pershing Field, yes it's chlorinated.

Ok, I'll ask. What the hell is going on in your avatar, mouth breather? Is it some kind of "meat is crucifixion" protest? I'm not squeamish or religious, just curious.

Yeah, but it's so much in your face when they're in their underwear, you know??

I went there for the first time a few weeks ago with my 4-year old daughter - she had a blast.

Pros and cons:

Pros
1) It's FREE
2) they have a kiddie section where they don't allow any older kids. All the kids were all having a great time
3) the area around the pool is clean and nice

Cons
1) I wouldn't go there as an adult looking to swim. The pool was way too packed. We went on a sunday at 3pm. I think they have different hours for different activities - maybe there's an "adult swim" time
2) Some of the parents let their kids swim in their underwear which might go against your pee-phobia? (is there a word for that?)
