Sorry to post again so quickly, but Jeff Mangum of Neutral Milk hotel just announced he'll be playing at the Loew's on November 6th (yes, 9 months from now):

For those of you wonder who Jeff Magnum or Neutral Milk Hotel is, they released a critically acclaimed album in 1998 (In the Aeroplane over the Sea) and then disbanded shortly thereafter. he hasn't played major shows since then, and is just starting to play several high-profile gigs at festivals later this year.

I'd say this is a major coup for the Loew's and I hope it marks a return to booking great shows there!

Does WFMU ever do anything in Jersey City? It seems to me that although they're located in Jersey City, they don't do a lot to promote the city.

But I could be wrong - I only listen to certain programs (mostly on the weekends)

Journal Square Escalators

Once again this morning, one of the escalators at Journal Square was out of service. By my unscientific estimates, that would make this the ONE MILLIONTH time this has happened in the past four years.

I've never seen escalators needing so much service (and I've seen some heavily used and ancient escalators - Moscow, Paris, London, etc). So, does anybody have any idea why the JSQ escalators need so much work? Honestly, it's like 7 times a month.

Are all the escalators in the other PATH stations so pitiful?

Yeah, but it's so much in your face when they're in their underwear, you know??

I went there for the first time a few weeks ago with my 4-year old daughter - she had a blast.

Pros and cons:

Pros
1) It's FREE
2) they have a kiddie section where they don't allow any older kids. All the kids were all having a great time
3) the area around the pool is clean and nice

Cons
1) I wouldn't go there as an adult looking to swim. The pool was way too packed. We went on a sunday at 3pm. I think they have different hours for different activities - maybe there's an "adult swim" time
2) Some of the parents let their kids swim in their underwear which might go against your pee-phobia? (is there a word for that?)
