Re: Sick and tired of the Latin Lounge
Home away from home
Home away from home

Actually Geenville, if you had bothered to read any of my post, you would see that any Lounge (be it Caucasian, Yuppie or otherwise) with patrons that disrespectful would piss me off. Its not so much the loudness, but the lateness of the hour. When they are disrespectful pricks at 11pm, I shrug. At 2am, its getting to a point I can not tolerate. At 4am, its downright insane.

So instead of just assuming I am an angry yuppie who just hates Latin people. Your accusatory tone has no business here. Actually think about what you are saying before you hit Post.

Sigh. Let me try and explain this to you without causing a big argument. I dont mind normal bar noises. This bar well exceeds anything that comes out of a normal bar. Trust me. Until you live where I do, do me a favor and try to understand (as you have already admitted) you don't know anything about this bar.

If it was normal bar noises, I would understand. This is way excessive. The lamp post is also two doors down and I never have a problem with those people. Why? Because they respect the neighborhood. Do me a favor and come on by tonight. Check it out for yourself. Until you do that, you really say anything, can you?

Re: Where are all the BJ shopping carts coming from?
Home away from home
Home away from home

Thanks for the info. I called to talk but was told by a Tom Wrider "BJ's Manager" that those electronic shop Rite Cart things dont work! Which was good to know considering I have never seen a Shop Rite cart outside of their lot ever! He also told me that is was all the JC residents fault and said that maybe I should mind my own business. This is where I got a tad defensive as he was attacking me. I said "I respectfully disagree. I have never seen a Shop Rite or Pathmark Cart out of their lot" To which he responded by telling me I was wrong. I was dealing with a real mensa man here. Bottom line, Tim Hebert is the man to talk to when you call, although he wont be in until Monday. You better believe they are getting a call Monday 9:30 am.

Before you respond with something like that, try reading the whole post. You just make yourself look ignorant and frankly, waste all of our time.

From someone who gets his name from a Patrick Swayze movie, you would think you would be more enlightened.

Sick and tired of the Latin Lounge

I don't know if any of you live near this horrible place, but I do and it has, hands down, the most disrespectful patrons I have ever seen. Besides pulling up in thier cars BLASTING music and double parking ALL THE TIME, the bar itself is blasting music until late into the night. Since they can't smoke inside, most patrons stand on the sidewalks LATE at night screaming (because the music inside has made them deaf) Last night was the worst in awhile. With summer coming, more of these deadbeats are lingering outside.

The worst part is, the police have no interest in stopping any of these offenses. They have been called on numerous occasions and do nothing. As much as they like to crow about improving quality of life, I have never seen a response to numerous noise complaints. Even after that guy ran some people down, the cops stood by and did nothing about the real cause of the problem. (Why would they want to bust their good friends at the Latin Lounge?)

And just to silence some of you people who want to feign outrage, no, I am not a racist. Deadbeats of all walks of life, color and creed walk in there all the time. Just because its called teh Latin lounge, doesn't mean its just latino people in there.

Seriously. BJs needs to get on it. You never see any Pathmark or Shop Rite carts. They have a responsibility to the neighborhood to keep those carts on site. Is there someone we can call?

If you call BJ's they will humor you and tell them they are coming to pick them up.

It really depends on how much you want to charge for the place. A full ovenb would get you more rent for sure.

Victory!

(sorry have to say that every time I see Johnny Drama)

I know you passed, but my suggestion is to sit on the lawn. Thats where all the fun is! And I dont just mean the smokable kind, I mean the people are more lax and thats usually where fans can just rock out

Couldn't agree more. We need more places like OX on Newark Ave and less dollar stores.

I just want to say a big thanks to John's!!! I noted some disappointment on this very board that they didn't deliever to me, and they responded by sending me a private message and fixing it. Thats service! It is refreshing to have a place that actually cares what the customers think and are actively trying to make their place better. Besides just awesome pizza, this is just what I want from a new business. THANKS so much. I am a customer for a very long time.

PS My delivery pizza was top notch! Couldn't be happier. Heres to many years of John's downtown

Once I was talking to a co-worker/fellow JC resident and I mentioned that police station makes me a feel a little bit safer, to which he replied "I got mugged right in front of that police station a year ago"

So I guess other people know the cops in there are just too busy to stop crime.

Sorry if us "pestrians" get in your way. Next time just run us right over, that way you can get home 2 minutes earlier.

By the way, I love your little sniglet. Did you come up with that all on your own or did Rich Hall pitch in?

Anyone who has ever tried to get any work done on their place knows that JC is corrupt. The only thing that surprises me is that the guy didn't take the bribe. But as mentioned before, it is probably because it is too low. You all can defend them all you want, but the truth is there are many many people on the take in JC and Hoboken including the people you have to go and complain to.

You are all nuts. Great food. Great atmosphere. Good tunes. SO your little toddlers can't go there? Fine go to Chilis or somehwere family friendly and leave the rest of us to enjoy the amazing food Taqueria churns out daily.

Re: Taqueria

It was actually like two weeks ago. I should have been more clear in my original post. a family (exactly the same demographics as the one described above) was just letting their kids bang on stuff and yell. And the parents had that "we can just tune it out" attitude and had no regard for the rest of us.

If you were the same family that was in there letting your kids scream while you tuned it out, then good riddance.

If not, bummer, but "family places" don't usually have AC/DC stools.

I am a tad disappointed at the fact I am not in John's delivery area. I live on 2nd street back by Monmouth. I guess its too far for them, but I have got food delivered from Hoboken before and thats further, so I guess they are trying to save on gas. I love the pizza, but I want to eat it at home.

To qualify that, its an illeagal motorcycle shop. It will never shut down as the owner knows the right wheels to grease.

It actually has a very good neighborhood assoc. Its a great area to live with the exception of a few places that suck (see Latin Lounge) but for ther most part, everyone really cares about the neighborhood and it improves every day.

It sounds great and all but until they get some bullet train that goes straight from Trenton to NYC, I doubt I am moving there any time soon. As much as I like JC, I wouldn't live there unless it offered me QUICK access to NYC.

I have had comcast for 8 years in JC and never once had an outage. Maybe I just wasn't home at the time, but that's just my experience. Their OnDemand service is off the hook, btw. It has everything!
