I was on E-ZPass' website today:

And these websites look interesting

www.trips123.com
www.njcommuter.com

===============================
Holland Tunnel Users:

Beginning February 2008, the Route 139 rehabilitation project will begin construction along the eastbound corridor. Please visit the Route 139 project website at www.njcommuter.com for construction updates and suggested alternate travel routes for eastbound motorists. Motorists are encouraged to plan their trips using information from radio traffic reports and real time information found online at www.njcommuter.com and www.trips123.com. Travelers are urged to use mass transit, carpools and vanpools whenever possible.

Thank you for your patience while the NJ Department of Transportation reconstructs this roadway for your safety and convenience.

The Holland traffic cams are nearly useless, a still doesn't tell you whether traffic is moving or not. At least show several lights in the frame, you can tell if it's backed up or not. The ramp from the TPK is ALWAYS backed up, no info there!

As for radio, it occasionally helps but is no guarantee. And places that are always slow aren't even reported, SNAFU. If I had a dime for every time I was stopped dead in traffic that was not reported on the radio....

So do you have a solution ? I guess what has been provided is better than nothing.

Correction on my previous reply:
Put on your radio and set it to the AM band here are the traffic stations:
WCBS 880 every ten minutes on the 8's - 08,18,28,38,48,58
WINS 1010 every ten minutes on the 1's - 01,21,31,41,51
WBBR 1130 every ten minutes on the 5's - 05,15,25,35,45,55

www.traffic.com is free to use and usually provides me with good info. you can set up a drive and then call the toll free number to find out info about traffic on that drive. of course, i've since forgotten what the toll free number is and i can't find it anywhere on the website ... but it's on there somewhere

edit 2 - the toll free # is 866 MY-TRAFC... you need to register and stuff to be able to use it for saved drives, but i think you can just call the toll free # to ask about specific roadways in the area without registering.

Wait - is there anything from the NY side?

I made the same mistake coming home from work at 1 a.m. this morning. The left lane was closed, and the whole time I was thinking "Should've taken the PATH." Not to mention that riding in the taxi makes me carsick.

???

More links please!

I find that the local radio stations are too late with their traffic reports. Every time they report an accident or delay I'm already stuck in it. I have tried metrocommute.com but have found their information to be inaccurate sometimes. Once they said there was a delay on 78-East, and since I was going West I didn't worry about it. Turned out the delay was actually on 78-West and I got stuck for almost an hour.

1010 WINS (radio) gives traffic reports every 10 minutes. I also think the local news channels have a traffic alert, but it might just be during rush hour.

Tonight's traffic was because of the motorcycle rally, which is a random occurrence and was well publicized, but I still found a way to get caught in it too. Even the driver was like "damn, I forgot."

Nothing stinks more than getting stuck at work past 9pm, getting to take the car home, and then sitting in the Holland Tunnel for 30min wishing I had taken the PATH. Does anyone have a link to a real time traffic cam or something like an updated online feed that has the traffic status? I've run google searches and searched this msg board but I don't see anything that works. Thank you!
