Jersey City releases more emails that were focus of lawsuitBy JERSEY CITY -- Mayor Steve Fulop today released four emails his administration has spent two years keeping private, one day after an ally of one of his chief local foes asked a judge to order the city to release them. The emails, which were the focus of a lawsuit filed last year by Fulop foe Bill Matsikoudis' civic group and his law partner, Derek Fanciullo, include a back-and-forth between Fulop and an adviser about how to respond to a story printed in this newspaper in 2014. The Jersey Journal made a similar request for the emails in 2015 that was also denied. http://www.nj.com/hudson/index.ssf/20 ... ls_that_were_focus_o.html

Jersey City fights to stop public release of Fulop emailsBy JERSEY CITY -- A court fight over emails involving Mayor Steve Fulop and one of the chief architects of his 2013 mayoral victory is continuing after the city refused last month to hand over two of the emails. An ally of Bill Matsikoudis, who won a victory in December when a judge ordered the city to produce the documents, filed a motion yesterday to compel the city to deliver additional emails the city now argues are exempt from the state Open Public Records Act. http://www.nj.com/hudson/index.ssf/20 ... lic_release_of_fulop.html

As we well know use of personal email to conduct public business is just not good policy. This very well could be a fishing expedition or an attempt to embarrass the Fulop Administration but there is reason to be concerned if this is common practice.
The city needs to provide appropriate secure current technology for the administration to do their work effectively. Quote:

I feel bad for Bill Matsikoudis' family... cannot even fathom the amount of time and money he has spent on his obsession with Mayor Fulop that could have gone towards his family instead. Imagine he spent the money he wasted on the voting date change initiative on family instead? Or just donate to charity... so sad.

Judge orders Fulop to hand over some emails, textsBy JERSEY CITY -- A Hudson County Superior Court judge handed a partial victory to mayoral hopeful Bill Matsikoudis this week when he ruled the city wrongfully withheld public records regarding a political strategist linked to Mayor Steve Fulop. The judge's order represents the first clash between Fulop and Matsikoudis since Matsikoudis declared he will attempt to unseat the mayor in November 2017. The two men are longtime political foes.
