Service on the Hudson-Bergen Light Rail is currently suspended in both directions between Danforth Avenue and Eighth Street due to a downed tree, NJ Transit said on its website.

The service interruption affects four stops in Bayonne -- the Eighth Street, 22nd Street, 34th Street, and 45th Street stations -- and the Danforth Avenue station in Jersey City.

The secret is either go down Chapel ave and that will leave you in the golf course and once you cut through there, you are in Liberty State Park and then cut across to Jersey ave. to the Path or keep going till you get to Exchange Place.

Another good way to go is cut across the turnpike sidewalk and that will leave you also in Liberty State Park. both of these routes have very little car traffic. Just avoid going down Garfield to Grand street, I did that once and it sucked too many cars. On super nice days you can ride 5 minutes down to Port Liberte and just jump on the ferry for $7 :) Good Luck!

Where can I find these "private buses" that will honor my monthly light rail pass?

New Jersey Transit and private buses will cross honor light rail tickets and passes, and PATH is cross-honoring light rail tickets and passes between Exchange Place in Jersey City and Hoboken stations, NJ Transit officials said.

I am not sure about the rest of the city, but there is a bus that stops on Richard and Garfield a few feet away from the Richard station. IMO the bust takes to long and uber is surcharging... the citibike got me to exchange place in 15 min.

Two days after overhead catenary wires were yanked down, the Hudson-Bergen Light Rail system is continuing to run on a modified schedule this morning.

Trains are running every 30 minutes "until further notice," New Jersey Transit officials said on an advisory this morning. The advisory noted that crews are continuing repairs in the power lines near the Marin Boulevard station.

Light rail service in Jersey City will operate on modified schedule in time for morning rush: NJ Transit

By Tanya Manthey | The Jersey Journal

JERSEY CITY -- Light rail service will operate on a modified weekend schedule in time for morning rush hour, according to NJ Transit's website.

Service on the Hudson-Bergen Light Rail between Harsimus Cove and Liberty State Park stations has been suspended in both directions since 2:30 p.m. after a dump truck struck overhead wires on the track on Marin Boulevard this afternoon around 1 p.m., according to NJ Transit spokeswoman Nancy Snyder.

The dump truck also took down a traffic signal pole.

Apparently a tow truck (?) knocked down the wires? Not quite sure, but if you are waiting for the light rail, it might be while.
