Thanks.
Unfortunately there is no way the train will work. It looks like it's just under 2 hrs from my front door to the train station in Morristown, then I still have to figure out how to make the last 2 miles, some of which doesn't look walkable (busy streets/no sidewalk).

I'll need to find a vanpool/carpool to make this work.

I'll try the link to the Hudson County TMA that someone recommended. I also noticed some vans on the turnpike yesterday:

Looks interesting.

Trains from Hoboken are either direct to Morristown (depending on where your work is located the Convent Station station may be convenient for you as well) or require a transfer in Secaucus or Newark. It's just over an hour and the transfers are really quick during commuting times!

This sort of commute might make sense to try to do by rideshare or vanpool. Their website is not the easiest to navigate and is sometimes a bit outdated, but you could try to contact someone at the Hudson County TMA (Transportation Management Association). Here's their website: http://hudsontma.org/index.php?page=r ... id=44&cat_id=18&Itemid=54

In 1994 I served my judicial clerkship in the Morris County Court house and commuted via train. I was living in Journal Square at that time. So I would take the PATH from Journal Square, switch at Pavonia and then go to Hoboken from where I would take the train to Morristown. I remember it being a direct line to Morristown. The trip each way was just under two hours. I would walk to the court house from the train station. For only four months you could probably do it.

Maybe you can find or post a car pool request on Craigslist. I bet there are a few people who commute to Morristown from the area. Though be mindful people's work scheduled may not always align with yours.

I thought Hoboken Midtown Direct goes to Summit, and you can change there to get on the Dover branch to go to Morristown? Better than going out of your way to Secaucus.

$85/day for 4 days a week for 2-3 months.
Not exactly economical.

If you haven't been convicted of any felonies you could always try Zipcar.

I need to commute to Morristown from downtown Jersey City for 4 days a week for a few months starting in mid-July. I do not own a car, but I do have a driver's license.
Options with NJ Transit really stink. I'd need to either:

Path or light rail to hoboken
train to secaucus
train to morristown
then somehow get the 1.5 miles from the train station to work
Even without the local bus or walk at the end, that's almost 2 hrs each way

Or get to the Port Authority in NY, where it would take 2 buses to get me to the train station in Morristown.

Does anyone know of any vanpool or carpool info? Or bus service other than NJ transit that will get me out there? I don't want to have to buy a car just to have to deal with this commute for a few months.
I'm currently trying to buy a home, so I can't add the debt at this time.
If I could find someone driving out there I could ride with and contribute to gas/tolls that would be great.
My hrs are 8-4, but I could probably rearrange a bit.

Thanks for any advice
