those of us in the building have complained that the retail space is essentially being used now as a licensed kitchen for her to use without having any actual store hours.

we want a store that is actually open that we can patronize. Also something to note, it doesn't have real ovens it has those electronic cake/cupcake baking ovens.

heard a rumor she was selling the Business - who knows for sure though.

If I had to completely speculate, I think they ended up in a Catch-22.

1. The retail cupcake sales were what created the customer base for the more-lucrative custom cake orders.

2. The retail sales were strong enough that it prevented her from having enough time to work on the custom cake orders.

3. She had to hire additional staff to man the retail counter.

4. The retail sales weren't strong enough to also pay for the increased labor costs of the additional staffing, turning it into a loss.

5. Ceasing the loss-leader retail sales destroyed the "toe-dipping/ try-before-you-buy" customer base for the custom cake orders.

As I said, completely my speculation.

I thought they did well before they did special orders only. We thought that was a bad move then and maybe it proved we were right.

They will be missed the maple syrup bacon cup cake was nice..mmmmm

The last time I looked in the window there were boxes of files and paperwork piled on the floor with no sign of baking. At least two of the stores in the commercial spaces at Hamilton Place have personal connections to the developers and would probably have closed by now. Basically they're window dressing to make the building/neighborhood more appealing. I can't imagine they're generating enough rent to cover real expenses etc. Brilliant marketing.

Does anyone have any updates on this place?

We tried to make an appointment to order our daughter's birthday cake, but got a generic answering machine message and an auto-response email saying they were no longer taking orders. Busy or permanently closed?

They switched several months ago to only taking orders and not selling cupcakes here and there. So must order in advance!

Hey everyone, do you know if this place is still open? I walked there from my office today to buy my employees cupcakes - I would have bought the place out and they were closed during regular business hours. I could have kicked myself for walking before calling them as I froze my butt off for no reason. I'm having trouble getting on their website too to see if their hours are odd over the holidays or something.
