View Larger Map Jersey City police say man bit off part of neighbor's nose during struggle Published: Tuesday, August 23, 2011, 3:02 AM By Charles Hack/The Jersey Journal A 52-year-old Jersey City man bit off part of a neighbor?s nose when a dispute turned physical Sunday, police reports said. Robert Browning, of Bowers Street, was charged with aggravated assault, use of force and simple assault, police reports said. Police were called to Greenville Avenue at 12:18 p.m. on the report of a street fight and saw Browning standing in the street with blood on his shirt and cuts and bruises to his face, reports said. Cops also saw a 48-year-old man was holding a towel to his nose, reports said. Police say Browning told them he was moving furniture from a house he owns on Greenville Avenue to his pick-up truck when he and the victim who was washing his car with his son ?stared each other down? several times. Browning said that after he came out of the house and saw the victim standing next to his vehicle with a baseball bat, the two men began to scuffle in the street, reports said. The victim?s 25-year-old son told police that Browning nearly hit him with the pickup truck before parking in front of the house and that?s when his father and Browning started exchanging words, reports said. The son said his father picked up the baseball bat, but that was after Browning picked up a hammer from his truck, reports said. Both men, according to the son, put down the weapons before they started fighting, reports said. The victim?s son also told police that while he was trying to pull Browning off his father, Browning bit his dad?s nose off, reports said. Browning said he bit the victim to defend himself from the victim?s son, who was punching him in the face and body, reports said.
