13-year-old girl arrested by Jersey City police after stolen SUV hits fire hydrant and witnesses identify her as passenger in vehicle; still looking for boy who was driving
Thursday, March 24, 2011 A 13-year-old Cliffside Park girl was charged with receiving stolen property in Jersey City after a stolen SUV with two juveniles inside slammed into a fire hydrant on Secaucus Road. Police are still looking for the boy who was driving, reports said. Officers responding to the crash at 8:45 p.m. Tuesday got a description from witnesses of the boy driver and girl passenger, reports said, and the girl was spotted on Kennedy Boulevard in North Bergen. When police approached the girl, she refused to take her hands out of her pockets, then began flailing her arms and screaming obscenities, police said. She was "subdued" and then identified by the witnesses, reports said. While being handcuffed she resisted, flailing her arms and pulling away and when placed in the radio car she kicked an officer, reports said. Anyone with information on the boy behind the wheel of the SUV is asked to call the Jersey City police tip line at (201) 547-JAIL. MICHAELANGELO CONTE
