The one in Mountain Lakes is now called Bentlee's which is still part of the South City Group. I went there for a holiday party in December and was told that all South City Grills would be switching over to this new brand.

I just called the number on the South City Group website and the number was changed. I called that number and it is Fire and Oak. I told the woman that I was looking to get through to South City Grill and she indicated that Fire and Oak was only two blocks away from where SCG was located. I then asked if South City Grill was closed permanently and she answered yes.

I believe the same owners opened Fire and Oak in the Westin. I guess the restaurants were too close together for it to make sense to operate both.

Funny, I always think of South City as a comparatively new place. The few times I was there, I liked the food but I couldn't hear the people I was with and was always freezing.

It appears this longtime downtown staple has been closed since before the Xmas holiday. Windows are papered-over and no signs in the window. Anyone know what happened?
