The homeless have always hung around Newark - way before those benches turned up also. They also seem to like the tree in the car park between Ox and Palace Drugs. But the one woman that seems to be part of the homeless gang was shouting a couple of weeks ago about a ticket she had gotten from the police - I presume for loitering. I agree the police should be doing more - especially as they are just around the corner!

I called the non-emergency number and they said they were gonna send an ambulance to pick him up. Didn't stick around as he was fast asleep minutes later.

The lights in the streetlights should be brighter. That could be a partial deterrent.

What we need is more police presence downtown.
Not sure what the heck is going on. I did see two bicycle cops the other day though. But more needs to be done. Also, I am noticing a LOT more loitering and homeless issues along Newark ave. You all know the ones I am talking about. Hang right by the old Wamu bank branch near Kiddie Gullio place. (which is creepy). What is it about this area that the homeless like so much? Is it the cheep booze from Palace Drugs? The Lotto from the Newsstand? Time for Jersey City to start enforcing their no loitering laws. I'm sure that there are some somewhere. FG

Jersey Wine and Spirits-492-498 Jersey Ave- experienced a second break-in over the past 2-3 months. The first time, the criminally stupid thieves crashed through the glass doors, only to steal a bunch of airplane bottles. This time, I guess the store was broken into by a better class of Jersey City criminal and made off with a safe and cash. If anyone sees or have witnessed any strange behavior around the store, give the guys at the store a heads-up.
