Re: What location was your bike stolen from (time, type of lock, etc)?

I had another bike stolen last week. Worrying to see the number of mentions of Coles Street on here. In any case mine was stolen from my apartment building, outside my apartment door, Thursday July 18th between 7:15 and 8:30am. I am located on Coles & 1st. This is my bike:
http://www.target.com/p/schwinn-men-s ... bike-blue-28/-/A-13241180

I had fitted it with a child seat for my daughter (we never did get to ride it - the bike was two weeks old). The seat was on the rear and looked like this:

And a basket on the front:

I realize its a long shot - and I'm super late posting - but if anyone happens to see my bike I'd appreciate the heads up.

Thanks all

Jersey City Medical Center - I've had u/s and xrays there and I thought they were great. Plus early hours - my scan was schedule at 7am and I was seen on time.

If it was a commuter service that had that many accidents, and people who lived in NY/NJ were the ones dying, there would be much more outrage at this.

Re: Paco & Taco... what's the story with these people?

I don't know their story but I want to say they have been in the Newark Avenue area for approx 1.5/2 years - I've been in the area for 7yrs+ and don't recall seeing them prior to that. I did heard that they are drug addicts and they are regulars to the police and the ambulance crews. I have seen them on many occasions fighting - often the outcome involving facial injuries to the woman. One weekend, at 1:30am, (I was coming home from the City) she asked me to call an ambulance "for my boyfriend". She was standing beside a payphone. I declined. While anyone living like that is sad, I will always avoid walking past them for fear of getting involved in their drama.

On another point there is a guy with a mullet on Newark who is always playing scratch cards - he must spend a fortune because I see him everyday doing this - we call him 'scratch and sniff' in our house.

I heard it was going to be salads, falafal and, like you mentioned, Mid East fare.

Does anyone know what is happening with the old Milano Furniture space? I can see that there is some work going on inside - looks like the space is being partitioned into smaller rooms perhaps?

I love Netflix and particularly love watching, for the most part, newly released foreign movies. My choices:

Agree re Restrepo - just saw that this week - amazing docu
Roman de Gare - French
City Island - Andy Garcia & Julianna Margulies, funny/touching
Red Riding Trilogy - might be hard to follow the accents - I struggled and I am from the UK!
The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo - gotta see Noomi Rapace
Weeds
Tudors
Dexter
Dirty Filthy Love - big fan of Michael Sheen - thought this was great
Flame & Citron - WWII story based on Danish resistance fighters - in Danish with Mads Mikklesen (another favourite)
Flickering Lights - Danish dark comedy
He Loves Me, He Loves Me Not - Audrey Tatou in a surprising French movie
Adams Apples - odd Danish black comedy with Mads Mikklesen again

A tonne of other too but these are the most recent ones I have seen.

Had lunch there today with 5 work colleagues for a Christmas-type get-together and they were blown away. I have been there once before so knew we would have a great experience. I wouldn't be surprised if this became our go-to for work functions and client meetings.

Looks like they are going to lower some sort of metal platform into the Hudson right by the Hyatt Hotel. Does anyone know what they are doing?

Does anyone know what this business is? Large banner outside the store saying 'Rogue is Coming'. A few doors down from Port-O.

That couple, we like to call the The Glamour Couple, were outside Palace Drugs yesterday with the police around them. The female had clearly been punched in the face and was bleeding a lot from the mouth. The police must be sick of their antics. All I heard the cop say as I passed was to the woman "stop lying". Haven't they got somewhere better to be? These people make Newark Avenue very intimidating, especially for non-JC folk who are not used to these 'characters'.

I go to Walkers regularly and I must say I haven't recalled how long the facial are actually are. I will make a note next time though.

The homeless have always hung around Newark - way before those benches turned up also. They also seem to like the tree in the car park between Ox and Palace Drugs. But the one woman that seems to be part of the homeless gang was shouting a couple of weeks ago about a ticket she had gotten from the police - I presume for loitering. I agree the police should be doing more - especially as they are just around the corner!
