I'm always sad to read these stories -- and it seems like there's one a year, minimum -- since it's otherwise a really good diner. Don't let this scare you away from eating here during "normal" hours.

Diner patron shot in lot

Monday, December 14, 2009

A 28-year-old patron of a Jersey City diner was shot through the window of his SUV after an argument with another customer Saturday morning, police reports said.

Police were called to the Jersey City Medical Center at around 4:20 a.m. after receiving a report that a man with a gunshot wound was being treated in the emergency room for a non-life threatening gun shot wound, reports said.

A friend of the victim told police the victim had gotten into his Ford Explorer in the parking lot of Al's Diner, 869 Communipaw Ave., when he was shot through the windshield, police said.

The victim's friend took him to the Jersey City Medical Center, reports said, where he was treated for a non-life threatening wound, after the bullet entered his collar bone.
