So that's 2 stories- One where the lady finds the guy on the internet, and this one. I'm not so concerned that the citizens & not the cops are finding these guys- I am concerned that they all have recent convictions, violent ones, and are out.

Is it the Prosecutor's office cutting deals? The judges?

I don't want to start another gun debate thread, but rather than focusing on the headline grabbing political stuff, how about some old fashioned tough convictions?

How about locking him up for more than 15 or 16 months? Let's give that one a shot, see how it goes.

It's obviously not just these two stories- Every JJ article where they catch the guy, second to last or last paragraph, "Blah blah was in prison for blah blah, blah blah, blah blah for 2 months in 05, and for blah blah blah in 06 for 3 months, and got out 3 weeks ago".

Real tough guy going after a couple of teenage kids. Whats with the dramatics, does he think he is in a crime-drama? I am glad this scumbag was caught.

Cops: Mom tracked down son's mugger

by Michaelangelo Conte/The Jersey Journal
Friday January 09, 2009, 3:42 PM

Leroy M. Wilson of Jersey City is accused of the armed robbery of two Greenville boys. He was tracked down, cops say, by the mother of one of the kids.

A Jersey City criminal with a violent past was arrested yesterday on charges he robbed two Greenville neighborhood boys at gunpoint, cops told The Jersey Journal today.

But, like the arrest of another accused mugger, this story has a "we're not gonna take it anymore" twist: the suspect was found after the mother of one of the victims learned that word on the street was that he was the robber, officials said.

Leroy M Wilson, 27, of Armstrong and Rose avenues, was arrested on Journal Square just before midnight and charged with robbery and possession of a firearm by a felon, officials said.

He has been arrested seven times in Jersey City and has two prior convictions for aggravated assault and a one for a weapons offense, police said.

One victim, a 16-year-old, told police that on New Year's Eve he was going to a store with his cousin when a man approached them at Ocean and Bidwell avenues and pointed a handgun at them saying ,"Y'all wanna die right here?" reports said.

The gunman ordered both boys to the ground and went through their pockets taking $57, reports said.

The police began investigating but it was on Monday that the 16-year-old's mother told police the robber might be Wilson, saying "that she obtained this information from various sources in the neighborhood," reports said.

That's when police showed the boy a photo lineup and he picked out Wilson, saying he was 100 percent sure it was the robber, reports said.

Wilson was in state prison from Dec. 5, 2003 to May 15, 2005 on convictions for aggravated assault and unlawful possession of a handgun, corrections officials said.

He also goes by the aliases, Condell Gilmore and Shawn Jackson, officials said.
