Fulop just posted this on FB:

I want to say thank you to all the volunteers that were apart of this process and believe in the potential for a better Jersey City. With your help we won tonight and I know that this is a tremendous responsibility to bring every community in this great city forward. It is something I will work tirelessly on to make you proud. I can't express how thankful I am.

According to the JJ, Healy "says he wishes the new mayor Steven Fulop the best of luck."

52.71% for Steven Fulop so far! I called it first. Woohoo! However, no celebrating just yet...

The live update of the results seems to be up now. It has Fulop at 53% while Healy is at 37%, as I write this.

I mean, if 10000 people vote and one gets 5000 votes, there will be a runoff because he didn't get at least 5001.

the link is working, the page however is dead ...
from nj.com

The mood is hushed and people are speaking in whispers at Mayor Jerramiah Healy?s packed campaign headquarter at Oakland Avenue and Fleet Street in Jersey City Height where people are inputting vote tallies and a screen at the front of the room shows candidate Steven Fulop with 48 percent of the vote and Healy with 42 percent at 8:30 p.m.

At 8:30 p.m., Healy was not yet at the headquarters where key campaign officials are in a back room. Bayonne Mayor Mark Smith made his way through the crowd and into the back room at about 8:15 p.m.

The crowd is spilling out the door onto Fleet Street.

The totals flashed on the screen showed Fulop with 4,670 votes, Healy with 4,070, Jerry Walker with 835, and Abdul Malik, the fourth mayoral candidate, with 109.

So I was down at the county Board of Elections office a short while ago, and apparently, this link is where the results will be posted.

This is, of course, pending the counting of the provisional votes, which will take about a week but is only likely to "matter" if it's a really close race.

And, of course, in Jersey City the mayoral candidate needs 50% plus 1 of the vote to win (not just a majority). If this doesn't happen, there will be a run-off in June.

Let's go Fulop!
