Revel - and AC in general - also faces the "problem" of legalized casinos in Philadelphia.

I also concur that Revel's fate, and AC in general, really isn't Christie's fault.

Maybe there's a bit more he could do, but I'd guess the real issue is the recession, combined with increased competition.

A/C was never and will never be Vegas.

The Revel was so poorly constructed and it's only getting worse as the funds dry up. I was there a few months back with some friends. My friend went to get in the shower and door handle fell. He then got into the shower and tried to turn the water on and the faucet broke off.

That place was doomed from the word Go...

How can AC be everything that Vegas is? What would you do to get there?

Never going to happen under this, or any other Republican administration. Historically, Atlantic City boomed as a resort before the advent of the car and the many amenities made it a destination for long visits. While Revel - seemingly alone among the modern casinos - at least faced the ocean, it could have been anywhere.

What happened to Revel, as will kill Xanadu if anyone tries to resuscitate it, is Christie's reliance on the appeal of the hermetically sealed, car-dependent, revenue focused "anywhere USA" destination model. Christie will never be able to think outside of that box, and AC will continue to languish.

what a shame that Revel has filed for bankruptcy again. The solution: high speed rail/ferries to NY and improve the sh_thole neighborhoods in AC
