Get real folks. They make about 10.00 an hour,
work in all kinds of weather and are at their posts 3 times a day.
If u think it's easy go to Ferris, Dickinson, Lincoln at 3 PM.
U would pee in your pants.
Yeah they're really draining the city coffers.
Now let's pick on the meter maids they really make the big bucks.

Absurd is not even the word !!! WTH? I love the crossing guard on the corner of VanVorst and Grand, right in front of St. Peters Church - sits on the fire hydrant the entire time she's working and gives you attitude if you nearly run someone over because she can't get off her lazy backside to cross anyone. She watches from her perch ! Talk about L-A-Z-Y ! They pay that moron $48 an hour - goes to show ya anyone can get a job with this City!

I wonder if they make this much based on how many hours they work per day. Crossing guards don't work all day but maybe a couple hours per day maximum. Perhaps I am in the wrong field. I also wonder if that is an all in number that includes their benefits, payroll tax etc.

Hard to believe... I hate to rag on anyone's salary, but $48/hr for crossing guards sounds a little too high. I have also seen them sitting down while kids cross the streets and I have always felt they do too little while on duty. In other cities where I have lived, crossing guards are more serious/dedicated to their job and duties.

But how will we attract qualified crossing guards if we don't pay them a competitive--- oh yeah, crossing guards. Why aren't these people paid minimum wage?

Absurd, considering half the time, I see them either chatting with others or talking on their cells while kids are waiting to cross the street. I'm always giving people/government the benefit of the doubt but COME ON!!!
