It's too bad that it will probably take 5 years for them to get through all the red tape.

Best. Development. On. Newark. Avenue. Evah!
Although it probably would have been better for me around 10-15 years ago. Still, I am happy today.

OK, before I declare this day to be the happiest day of my life and transform into a spazmodic ball of ecstatic glee, what is the source of this info?

I wonder where this is going to go on Newark Ave. The only place I can think of is possibly Milano Furnature which is going out of business. That's a large space in an ideal location.
Unless its going to take over a 99 cent store. Any thoughts? Also, where are they going to get their liquor license from? I was at a City Council meeting a while back where they changed the ordinance on how close places could be and they said all licenses were issued. Hmmmm so either someone is closing or getting bought out. FG

"The guys at (Williamsburg Brooklyn's) Barcade have been looking to open another bar somewhere for awhile now. Looks like it's going to be (on Newark Avenue) in Jersey City. It's going to be bigger too (3500 sq. ft. as opposed to 2700) and serve food.
Stay tuned..." http://nymag.com/listings/bar/barcade/ Some people's idea of a romantic nightspot involves candles, slow jams, and a heart-shaped box of candy. But for girls on the hunt for that elusive small-torsoed, tight-jeaned, floppy-haired species known as the Emoboyis Williamsburgus, there's no better pick-up spot than Barcade. Here, finding and chatting up prime specimens is as easy as shooting fish in a barrel?or, more accurately, as easy as shooting aliens in Moon Patrol, one of more than thirty vintage arcade games that give Barcade its name. The airy, loft-like space never feels crowded, and there?s plenty of room to sit and watch Union Avenue?s finest compete for high scores of all varieties. Most importantly, the rotating list of more than 20 microbrews includes many local beers on tap. The heavyweight ones, with names like Sixpoint Diesel and higher-than-usual alcohol contents, may be just what?s needed to seal the deal with that dude in the faded Smiths T-shirt?or to sabotage your opponent at two-player Tetris. http://www.barcadebrooklyn.com/ "From the outside, the bar doesn't look like much, apart from the vastness, the inside doesn't look like much either...but if your looking for an arcade bar, this is youre place. It boasts an impressive beer selection. Its pretty big so its hardly ever crowded. There's a pool table for those not into donkey kong. And with games at a quarter a play, it makes other arcade bars look as if they're ripping you off. Fun, laid back time for all." http://www.classicarcadegaming.com/forums/index.php?topic=2501.0 http://www.yelp.com/biz/barcade-brooklyn
