Torres is mostly a douche, but he's right in this. Too many people think there's something wrong with voting for the least bad choice, and stay home if there isn't a saint in the race. If we're talking about Fulop vs Matsikoudis, much as Fulop has made disappointing moves, Healy's administration was worse, and I have no desire for a replay. Remember, both his chief of staff and Council President went to jail.

I could not let this valid observation by the local columnist Augie Torres a week or so ago pass by without noting -

"Just don't put too much faith in elected officials, they tend to disappoint and if one of them does something you like, then it's a genuine surprise. It's sort of like opening a gift not knowing what you'll get -- something wonderful or just re-gifted."

When assessing your choice in the coming elections, really look at who the candidates are, what their history is and what they have done. It is hard but try to get a sense as to what their character and values are, because, the past determines the future.
