My husband would only eat burgers from Marco and Pepe or Lighthorse tavern. He has been complaining about Marco and Pepe closing and I don't feel like trekking over to Lighthorse all the time so I was looking for other places and making him try other burgers. He will eat the ones at Burger. Leftbank is ok by me but he is picky and this is driving me crazy. I never noticed that place and apparently it's been by Torico's for a year.

I couldn't help but think, if your husband wanted a ground cow sandwich so badly, why not just make it? I know you will come up with a list of reasons why it's not feasible, I just could not help but think it. Doesn't get easier.

I wish them success, but I wish I could be excited about their menu.

Fantastic.

Burger Eatery does have great food, but it's not the same as a sit/down restaurant and bar.

but maybe it will be, when they finish expanding into Ruthie's old hair salon?

But what about the quality of their ingredients?

I hope they don't use the same unsustainable and unethical meats that you find in other leading hamburger establishments.

I used to go to Marco and Pepe for their burgers.

Now I go to Burger, next to Torico's. I like their burgers better than Shake Shack, and they have cute outdoor tables now. I don't know why I didn't notice that place before, I go to Torico's all the time.

This. Their service had been going downhill for quite some time. And, their food was nowhere near as good as it used to be back in 2008/2009.

I hope the new owners keep the kale salad and the lobster roll. The lobster roll was a perfect and a bargain.

Wow. After many years, I went to Marco and Pepe's last Saturday. Who knew it might be the last time? I had a blue cheese burger, medium, and it was excellent. Good enough to come back for. I guess not.

Marco & Pepe was closed today. Apparently, it was officially sold to a new owner just this afternoon, who has stated that the plan is to reopen and keep the restaurant very similar in style and menu. I'd heard a rumor that the owner was considering selling but had no idea how advanced the timing of the actual sale was.

Thanks for the "hot off the press" news. I will admit that I used to be a big fan of M&P for many years, but last visited a few years ago, after a few odd/unpleasant interactions and visits. They used to have a great menu that varied with the seasons, but which retained a few standouts throughout the year. At some point, they decided to tweak and really change the menu, and those changes really missed the mark. The last time I went there, I was really underwhelmed. There are so many good places in DTJC that enduring subpar food at M&P just wasn't worth it. Still, I am sad to see them go, as they had been an early booster of JC, and they really had some great food for a long while.
