It's been a long time, but I used to order occasionally from UberEATS at work in Manhattan when they first started. It seems to be a different setup now. At the time, the choice was limited to 1 popular place that normally didn't deliver. I was thrilled to order from Katz's Delicatessen among other unique places. The delivery fee was reasonable if several people from my office ordered. Delivery took a while and the food wasn't always hot, but it was still nice to be able to order from such places as Katz's.

Now it seems they're no different than any other delivery service except it's a much worse deal. I don't get why anyone would use them now.

Ubereats is a ripoff for everyone involved except Uber and the restaurant. Uber pays the driver 3.75 for a delivery thats up to 40 minutes away and tells people that they don't have to tip! The restaurant wins since they don't have to pay the delivery guy an hourly wage. It's much better to order directly from the restaurant if they offer free delivery.

I only used Uber Eats when I had a $5 off code to basically equal no delivery fee. $4.99, what a rip off. I usually use FastBoy if they're running a promotion, but between all options (Fast Boy, Uber Eats, Grubhub, Seamless, Delivery.com) you can generally find a discount and it's rarely with Uber Eats.

Takeout takes off: After just 2 months in N.J., UberEATS is expanding

After launching in New Jersey in February with a focus on serving Jersey City and Hoboken, UberEATS announced this week that their food delivery service is expanding into Bergen County.

While the initial launch included Bergen County neighborhoods Palisades Park and Cliffsides Park, the expansion will include Hackensack, Englewood, Teaneck and Fort Lee as areas UberEATS will deliver to, according to a company release.

"Every place we launch UberEATS is different, but across the board we're seeing strong demand from both eaters and restaurant partners," said Craig Ewer, an Uber spokesman. "Our goal is to continue expanding throughout the Garden State and make it possible for everyone to get their local favorites delivered at the speed of Uber."

Thanks for the tip. I've done takeaway from Razza before and didn't find it substantially different from eating it on site. The Uber Eats delivery was pretty much the same after a quick reheat.

Maybe if you live downtown, but where I live the delivery pickings are slim. It's a fair price to get delivery from a place that wouldn't ordinarily deliver to me, and I'd have to visit in person to pick-up/dine in (with tip, etc.). I'm looking at you Razza.

Going to try this out this weekend.

I live in the Heights and plenty of options on Seamless\Grubhub that are cheaper than UberEats. But fine, be my guess, throw your money away.

In addition to Seamless, Grubhub, and in-house delivery services at different restaurants, you have some local options, like Fast Boy. I have never used any of these services, but I know that Fast Boy is local, and I know that is often an additional worthy factor to consider for some consumers.

HOBOKEN -- Introducing UberEATS.

No, it's not a crude criticism of the controversial ride-hailing app. It's Uber's new food delivery service.

Starting Thursday at 8 a.m., an Uber driver will pick up and deliver takeout orders from among more than 100 participating restaurants in Hoboken, Jersey City and elsewhere along the Gold Coast for $4.99, plus the cost of the food.

"We've been cooking up something new - an app that makes getting great food as easy as requesting a ride," Prabhdeep Singh, the app's general manager for UberEATS in New Jersey, said in a statement. "It's our new food delivery app, and it's called UberEATS!"
