But what about the quality of their ingredients?
I hope they don't use the same unsustainable and unethical meats that you find in other leading hamburger establishments.

It's not my first message, I closed my old email account.
My husband would only eat burgers from Marco and Pepe or Lighthorse tavern. He has been complaining about Marco and Pepe closing and I don't feel like trekking over to Lighthorse all the time so I was looking for other places and making him try other burgers. He will eat the ones at Burger. Leftbank is ok by me but he is picky and this is driving me crazy. I never noticed that place and apparently it's been by Torico's for a year.

I used to go to Marco and Pepe for their burgers.
Now I go to Burger, next to Torico's. I like their burgers better than Shake Shack, and they have cute outdoor tables now. I don't know why I didn't notice that place before, I go to Torico's all the time.

Wow. After many years, I went to Marco and Pepe's last Saturday. Who knew it might be the last time? I had a blue cheese burger, medium, and it was excellent. Good enough to come back for. I guess not.

They used to have a great menu that varied with the seasons, but which retained a few standouts throughout the year. At some point, they decided to tweak and really change the menu, and those changes really missed the mark. The last time I went there, I was really underwhelmed. There are so many good places in DTJC that enduring subpar food at M&P just wasn't worth it. Still, I am sad to see them go, as they had been an early booster of JC, and they really had some great food for a long while.

Marco & Pepe was closed today. Apparently, it was officially sold to a new owner just this afternoon, who has stated that the plan is to reopen and keep the restaurant very similar in style and menu. The hope is to open as soon as possible, as they navigate (of course) through the city's various inspections/approvals/etc.
I'd heard a rumor that the owner was considering selling but had no idea how advanced the timing of the actual sale was.
