Didn't the guy crash deliberately? All the safety in the world will not stop a deliberate act.

Oh that's a terrible idea. Then cops would not be able to patrol a 400 ft wide park without even getting out of their car! And we can't have that.

Just a wild guess, but maybe he said "I did it on purpose" to sound like he was sober/coherent/clear-thinking. Because saying "I'm high as a kite," sure doesn't sound good. Just trying to figure out what he might have been thinking. Certainly not straight.

At 10pm, he could have run someone over.

Pass

However, if it is true that other drivers have gone over the curb and directly into the park, then it might not be a bad idea to put in a removable bollard or two.

Looks like the truck was more badly damaged than the gazebo. Maybe the guy had issues with his employer and that's why he did it on purpose.

People say crazy things when they, uh, do crazy things ;)

I don't recall hearing anything about vehicles driving straight into the park, though.

Whoops. My bad on the link.
I was inferring that this truck driver and trump dgaf. Maybe the truck driver was having a real bad day or was off his meds. Now I feel bad for comparing him to president pussy grab.

I've seen trucks drive into the park several times. Why truck drivers think they can drive through the park is insane. I've seen trucks side swipe cars, bend the stop sign, destroy trees.

I've written Fulop when he was a councilman asking him to put a big sign on 6th street saying NO TRUCKS beyond this point. I was told Jersey City can't put up signage on a roadway.

Time for those concrete pillars at the park entrance north/south. They can keep it open east/west for vehicular movement for those little food things they do.

Scary this type of person is behind the wheel of such a heavy and dangerous vehicle. Had to been high as a kite or drunk as a dog to pull a jack move like that. Quote:

A truck driver drove into Hamilton Park in Downtown Jersey City Thursday night, slamming into the park's gazebo and causing unknown damage.

Witnesses say the driver was headed south on Jersey Avenue, which ends at the park at Ninth Street, at about 10 p.m. Instead of turning onto Ninth Street, the driver continued straight into the park and plowed into the gazebo.
