Add to that another victim that died last night from a previous shooting that hasn't been reported yet and we are at 17 so far. Murder was also up in 2013, 2014 and 2015 from each previous year. Oh, good grief. 1) While any homicide is an awful thing, JC's homicide rate this year is lower than 2015, and on par with recent years. Which is to say "fairly low." 2) Although we don't have all the facts yet, it appears this shooting was a dispute between two people. There is very little any Mayor can do to avoid a situation like this. Unless, of course, you'd like Fulop to declare martial law, and seize every potentially deadly weapon in the city.

1 dead, multiple injured in Jersey City shooting: authorities By Caitlin Mota | The Jersey Journal on September 11, 2016 at 9:12 AM, updated September 11, 2016 at 9:40 AM JERSEY CITY -- One person is dead and multiple people were injured in an early morning shooting near Journal Square in Jersey City, authorities said. The shooting was reported at about 2 a.m. on Van Wagenan Avenue between Sip and Pavonia avenues. The Hudson County Prosecutor's Office has confirmed one man died from his injuries and three others were shot, a spokesman for the department said. The conditions of the other three victims were not immediately available.
