Oh, good grief.

1) While any homicide is an awful thing, JC's homicide rate this year is lower than 2015, and on par with recent years. Which is to say "fairly low."

Not true, last year Jersey City had 13 from January to September. According to this article we had 16 so far and September isn't even over. Add to that another victim that died last night from a previous shooting that hasn't been reported yet and we are at 17 so far. Murder was also up in 2013, 2014 and 2015 from each previous year. Shootings are also up this year.

2) Although we don't have all the facts yet, it appears this shooting was a dispute between two people. There is very little any Mayor can do to avoid a situation like this. Unless, of course, you'd like Fulop to declare martial law, and seize every potentially deadly weapon in the city.

The New York Times has a map where murder has increased in 100 cities. JC is on that map.

Thank you Yvonne.

And thank you Democrats, ACLU and bleeding heart liberals for dismantling broken windows policing across the US. You certainly got what you asked for - now live (and die) with it.

And what would you have him do? The miscreants that are on the streets have no respect for anything & no amount of police, etc will stop the bullshit until WE man up & take charge in instilling ethics or morals. But it is too much to ask the very sector that created this monster to take responsibility for it, it is far easier to blame someone else.

What "sector" are you referring to - the Democrats?

Jersey City fatal shooting was a 'senseless act of violence,' family says

http://www.nj.com/hudson/index.ssf/20 ... en.html#incart_river_home

(the reason for the date is because posters bump up old murder posts like the Aug 30th Woodlawn Ave, one. Having the date in the subject lets you know it was current. PS ? too late to edit it)

Would you delete the date in your subject please it is confusing? I keep thinking this is a 9-11 memorial post. The article will depict when this incident occurred.

The shooting was reported at about 2 a.m. on Van Wagenan Avenue between Sip and Pavonia avenues.
