How did the dog taste ?

It's a delicacy in many countries.

Woah guys, watch out for this guy. He's so edgy!

It would nice if we could reciprocate the community spirit by organizing a ' bbq party' to celebrate Muslims and ALL faiths into our community. If the Muslim community can reach out, then we should too with some funds from cityhall!

That's nice. I think more outreach programs, especially things like barbecues or other events open to the public would be helpful for the Islamic community, not only to be more accepted by their neighbors, but also to integrate young men who may be at risk of radicalization. Reminds me of going to a seder that a Jewish student group was hosting, and over half of the attendees were Muslims that were genuinely interested in learning. It was very nice.

I am not sure if this the same Islamic group that has held BBQ events in LSP in the past but, if so, they are a genuinely nice bunch. On one such occasion, I happened to be there [at LSP] grilling and hanging out with my dog and a man who appeared to be one of their organizers or leaders approached me and we engaged in some friendly banter. He invited me to join in and help myself to some food, but I had already made a ton of food myself and politely declined. In any case, it was a very neatly organized event they had, and it seems like every person in attendance was friendly and polite. If more Islamic groups want to hold BBQ events that involve performing civic minded chores like street cleaning, park beautification, etc., while also being friendly/welcoming to others, I am all for that.

In an effort to "spread peace and love and doing good for the community," the Al-Hoda Islamic Center on Kennedy Boulevard hosted a neighborhood cleanup Saturday afternoon.

People of all ages grabbed bags, brooms and gloves to help make the neighborhood a little bit cleaner.
