Man fatally shot in Jersey City just got out of prison a month ago

JERSEY CITY -- The 26-year-old man who was fatally shot outside of an IHOP early this morning had just gotten out of prison a little over a month ago.

The man, who was identified as Tyreek McCord of Jersey City by a source with knowledge of the investigation, was incarcerated from Dec. 5, 2014 to Oct. 13 this year on convictions of theft, receiving stolen property and aggravated assault, according to the state Department of Corrections.

JERSEY CITY -- A person was fatally shot in Jersey City early this morning in the area of Route 440 and Communipaw Avenue, according to the Hudson County Prosecutor's Office.

The shooting marks the fourth fatal shooting in Jersey City in ten days.

The victim this morning was a man, and he was shot outside of the IHOP at 700 Route 440, according to a source with knowledge of the investigation.
