The driver of a cargo van carrying the mattresses that fell and caused yesterday's fatal New Jersey Turnpike crash has not been charged with any crime, State Police said today.

State Police Capt. Stephen Jones said today that the driver of that vehicle stayed at the scene of the fiery accident nearly mile 109.6 of the Turnpike's western spur in Kearny and was questioned by detectives. He was not charged or issued any summonses, Jones added.

A colleague at work who also lives in NJ heard it's a major accident, with vehicles on fire. Caused the Turnpike to be partially shut down; no reported impact on trains.

Got off tpk extension few hours ago and Johnston Ave / Juan Pablo blockaded for several blocks.

What happened ? Looked like a massive police presence
